Great collaborating City of Sydney I feel grateful for meeting the many different people who chose to try yoga as a one off session, a few sessions or for the entire 8 weeks 🧘🏽‍♀️

Monday morning men’s yoga group in Glebe. Navigating rehabilitation absorbing new information & the discomforting thoughts of the unknown. In Ashtanga Yoga, a “busy mind” (often called chitta vritti or mental fluctuations) is settled not by fighting your thoughts, but by practicing non-attachment(vairagya) and non-harming (ahimsa).

These two concepts anchor the 8 Limbs of Yoga to calm a busy mind. Yama (Social Ethics)
Ahimsa (Non-harming): Do not judge your busy mind. Forcing your brain to be blank creates tension. Practice self-compassion when thoughts race.
Aparigraha (Non-possessiveness): Practice non-attachment to your thoughts. Let them pass without identifying with them or gripping onto them. Niyama (Personal Practices)
Santosha (Contentment): Accept your mind exactly as it is right now. Contentment reduces the anxiety of trying to fix your thoughts.
Svadhyaya (Self-study): Observe your busy mind like an objective outsider. Watch your mental patterns without getting swept up in the busy.
