“But I’ve already tried everything…”

This is something I hear almost every week.

Many of my clients have previously received support through other wonderful services, including Tresillian and Karitane. These organisations provide an incredible service for many Australian families.

However, every baby is different.

What works beautifully for one family may not work for another.

That’s why every sleep plan I create is completely personalised. I consider your baby’s temperament, age, feeding, sleep history, your parenting style and your goals before recommending an approach.

There is no single sleep method that suits every family.

If you’ve tried other support and you’re still struggling, it doesn’t mean your baby “can’t sleep.”

It may simply mean you need a plan that’s designed specifically for your family.

Sleep support should never be one-size-fits-all. 😴 🛌

🚩 Things I’d never do as a sleep consultant…

After working with hundreds of families, I’ve learnt one thing:

Sleep isn’t about luck, it’s about understanding what’s actually driving your child’s sleep challenges.

These are a few things I avoid because, more often than not, they make sleep harder, not easier.

✨ Better sleep doesn’t come from exhausting your child.
✨ It doesn’t come from chasing every wake-up.
✨ And it definitely doesn’t come from comparing your journey to someone else’s.

Every child is different, but good sleep is absolutely achievable with the right approach.

“Why is my baby doing this?”

It’s one of the questions I hear most from parents.

The truth is, your child’s sleep is constantly giving you clues.

✨ Early morning wakes.
✨ Short naps.
✨ False starts.
✨ Frequent night wakes.
✨ Bedtime battles.

These aren’t random behaviours, they’re often signs that something in your child’s sleep routine, schedule or sleep habits needs adjusting.

The good news? Once you know what those clues are telling you, it becomes much easier to make changes that lead to longer naps, fewer overnight wakes and more settled sleep for the whole family.

Remember, every child is different, so these are general guidelines rather than hard rules. Looking at the full picture, your child’s age, schedule, temperament and sleep history, is always the key to understanding what’s really going on.

❄️ Winter can bring a whole new set of sleep challenges, and one of the biggest culprits is often hiding in plain sight… temperature.

If your baby or toddler has suddenly started waking overnight or rising earlier than usual, take a look at their sleep environment before changing routines or schedules.

Remember:
🌡️ The coldest part of the night is usually around 4am
🛏️ TOG ratings matter
👕 Layers are just as important as the sleeping bag
🧸 Toddlers often kick blankets off without realising

A few small adjustments can make a huge difference to sleep quality for the entire family.

Save this post for those extra chilly nights and share it with a parent who needs it! ❄️💙

The 12 month sleep regression can feel like it comes out of nowhere 😵‍💫

One minute your little one is sleeping well… the next they’re fighting naps, waking overnight, becoming extra clingy and suddenly needing you for everything.

This regression is largely driven by HUGE developmental changes, particularly separation anxiety and object permanence, which can make sleep feel much harder for your little one during this stage.

The biggest mistake we often see?
➡️ Dropping the morning nap too early.

Even if it’s being refused temporarily, most 12 month olds still need 2 naps and keeping that short morning nap in place can make a huge difference to preventing overtiredness and protecting overnight sleep.

A few key reminders during this stage:
✨ Keep routines consistent
✨ Cap the morning nap to 30 mins
✨ Total day sleep max 2.5 hours
✨ Aim for a 4 hour awake window before bed
✨ Focus on solids as the main source of nutrition
✨ Overnight feeds are no longer biologically required at this age

Most importantly, this phase is temporary 🫶

If you’re struggling with the 12 month regression and feeling exhausted, I am here to help 🤍
