The Target Pistol Australia Board and Council wish to acknowledge and apologise for the omission of several aspects from the currently published WA1500 Selection Criteria.

While this omission was entirely unintentional, we recognise the uncertainty and concern it has caused members who are working towards qualification for the 2027 WA1500 World Championships in Australia. We sincerely regret the anxiety this situation may have created and appreciate the patience and understanding shown by members as we work through this process.

We are currently finalising the revised Selection Criteria, which will follow the same principles used successfully in previous selection processes. The policy will continue to provide a fair and transparent pathway for athlete selection through an average-based ranking methodology designed to identify the highest-performing athletes.

To ensure that no member is disadvantaged as a result of these changes, the revised policy will be backdated to 1 May 2026. Members will have up to 21 days from the publication of the revised policy to submit nomination forms and any qualifying scores that meet the updated criteria. Alternatively, members may submit their nomination form at the time of lodging their first qualifying score.

To minimise the risk of any further inconsistencies or unintended consequences, the revised policy will undergo review by active members of the WA1500 discipline prior to publication. This consultation process is intended to ensure the policy is practical, clear, and reflective of the discipline's needs.

Please be assured that TPA is committed to working collaboratively with members throughout this process. We value member input and are focused on ensuring the final policy is developed through consultation, transparency, and fairness for all athletes seeking selection.

Further updates will be provided as soon as the review process is complete.
