Good work from the team at the Queensland Open and National Schools Championships.

Two competitions on consecutive days is no easy task and the boys had two hard days of fighting.

Personal bests were achieved by all of the boys, with some winning medals and others fighting in a new weight or age category for the first time.

Well done boys 🥋💪

Congratulations to Lana, who is the Judoka of the Month from our Bear Judo class (8-12years old) 🥳

Lana has been training with an increased level of focus and intensity recently, attending more classes and doing extra training. Lana competed in her first competition recently and when there were no players in her age group, she agreed to move up to the next age range to join a mixed group, fighting three boys and another girl. Lana fought with some real fighting spirit, never giving up even when going a score down and pushing each fight to the full time, winning one with some lovely ne waza.

When I asked Lana why she likes learning Judo, she said “I like Judo because I know that it is good for you and you learn things like how to throw, break-fall and how to use your brain to outsmart your opponent. It teaches me self-defence and how to stay safe.”!

Keep up the great work Lana🥋💪

Good to see our Lions Judo (Adults) team attending extra training over the weekend at the Inter Club Seminar and Competition series.

Everyone had a couple of fights, winning some and losing others, showing some lovely Judo and also learning some valuable lessons that can only be learnt in a competitive environment.

The series has been set up to give kyu grade adults a regular opportunity to learn, train and compete with people from other clubs and academies. No medals are given for the competition, however valuable experience is gained from these matches and is a fantastic initiative set up by Yvonne from Judo Matsu and Mark from UTS Judo Club - thank you for organising and running such an awesome event!! 🥋💪

What a fantastic day for the Academy.

23 players took part in the Dream Judo Junior Open Competition today, 9 of which competed for the first time!!

I’m incredibly proud of how everyone fought!!

Great to see everyone trying to use the techniques we have been working on in class recently and watching some of the kids work through some personal challenges throughout the day!!

We also had 4 kids assist with the refereeing, well done guys!!

Thank you to all the parents and kids who came down to support the event and support the team.

Congratulations 🥋💪
