The Weekend Wrap | Thirroul Butchers has taken control of the race for the Harrigan Motor Group Cup minor premiership after surviving a thrilling encounter with Dapto Canaries, while Sutherland Loftus United JRLFC continued its remarkable late-season resurgence with a stunning victory over defending premiers Wests Devils Football Club in Round 14.

The Butchers edged the Canaries 32-30 in a see-sawing contest to move to 19 competition points and reclaim top spot heading into the final round.

Corrimal Cougars RLFC slipped to second after suffering a heartbreaking 18-16 loss to Collegians Senior Football League, with Blair Grant kicking a penalty goal in the 80th minute to decide a contest that had been locked at 16-all.

The results leave Thirroul one point clear of Corrimal, with Collegians also remaining in the minor premiership equation heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Corrimal Cougars RLFC have taken outright control of the Harrigan Motor Group Cup competition after a dramatic Round 13 produced major implications at both ends of the top five.

Corrimal's impressive 20-4 victory over defending premiers Wests Devils Football Club extended their winning streak to seven matches and, remarkably, marked their fifth consecutive victory over the two-time defending champions.

The result, combined with Thirroul Butchers enthralling 32-all draw with Collegians Senior Football League, moved the Cougars one point clear of the Butchers at the top of the ladder with two rounds remaining in the regular season.

But the biggest drama of the weekend came at Sutherland Oval, where Sutherland Loftus United JRLFC broke through for their first victory of the season with a converted try on the siren to stun Dapto Canaries 26-24.

With Corrimal and Thirroul locked in a battle for the minor premiership and Dapto chasing Wests and Collegians for a place in the top three, the stage is set for a fascinating final fortnight of the Harrigan Cup regular season.
