Swing Central will NOT be on in September! We're taking a break for a month so that we can dance it up at SLX - Sydney Lindy Exchange. Make sure you book your ticket, and we'll be back in October.

DANCER OF THE MONTH
It's Leroy! He's a newer dancer in Sydney and we're so glad he's joined our ranks.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN SWING DANCING?
It all started in May last year. I was introduced to it by a friend. Found it awesome and convinced myself to take a class shortly after.
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
It’s a nice way to have fun and just be yourself. It’s very unserious and oh! The dance happens to be pretty cool too.
LINDY HOP, BALBOA, COLLEGIATE S**G, CHARLESTON - WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE AND WHY?
It’s Lindy for me, I really enjoy how athletic and energetic the dance is. Improvisation is strongly encouraged. Also, there’s a lot to work with between open and closed positions.
WHY DO YOU COME TO SWING CENTRAL?
It’s a great place to meet incredible people and see familiar faces. The venue is nice and spacious with wooden flooring. Plus the DJs won’t let you down for a good time.

Max has been playing music for Swing and Blues dancers at events all over Australia for well over a decade, but he got his stripes right here in Sydney. Expect to hear some recent recordings mixed in with a whole heap of nostalgic floor-fillers.

David is back! David loves to collect swing music and is sure to play something you'll love. He dances all the dances - lindy, balboa, s**g, and solo jazz are all in his repertoire - and knows what tunes will get you up and onto the floor.

Is there anything Dean doesn’t excel at!? Dean Riot is a vintage music DJ, specialising in 1920s-1970s styles. After being exposed to the music of this era while taking dance classes at age 10, he was first introduced to DJ work at age 15 during a dance contest. He has been playing at and hosting events ever since. His passion also extended to clothes, so if he’s not behind the decks or on the dancefloor you’ll find him regularly hunting through vintage stores for original threads!
