🎉 What a fabulous night at our Gym Trivia Night!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday, 4 September, for a fun-filled evening of trivia, laughs, friendly competition and great company. It was wonderful to see so many members, friends and supporters enjoying themselves.

A huge thank you to Trevor Sauer, who did a marvelous job as our MC. Trevor kept the night moving, entertained us all and certainly made the evening one to remember! 👏

We’d also like to sincerely thank our wonderful sponsors for supporting the evening:

🍺 Mapleton Public House
☕️ La Botiga
🎤 Mapleton Bowls Club

And congratulations to our winning team, The Thunderbirds, led by team captain Brad Drew! 🏆🎉 Well done!

A special thank you also goes to our two fantastic bartenders for the evening, Mark Payne and Martin Lambe, both members of the Mapleton Bowls Club. Thank you for keeping everyone refreshed throughout the night! 🍻

We hope everyone who attended had as much fun as we did — and we’re already looking forward to the next one! 💙

What a great community night! 🙌

Meet Chaffey Backhouse - Gym President!

1. How long have you been a member of Range Community Gym, and what first brought you through the doors?

Answer: I’ve been a member of the gym for 11 or 12 years. I needed to get my fitness sorted to be able to attack The Kokoda Track...Paul P takes full credit for me achieving my goal as does Russell McDonald from Range of Motion for sorting my aging joints. 😃

2. What made you decide to get involved with the Gym Committee, and how long have you been President?

Answer: Peter Maidens (Past President and Lifetime Member) did a proper job on me!I’ve been President for 5 years I think… might be time to hand over the reins to someone else??

3. What do you think makes Range Community Gym different from other gyms?

Answer: Friendships - lots of members have made and continue to make lasting friendships, they share social get togethers, and generally enjoy each others company. It’s a really friendly place to workout.

4. What’s your favourite memory from your time at the gym?

Answer: Observing members enjoying themselves at various social functions and gym events. Recognising past and present members who have made a significant contribution to our Gym which has become such an important part of our local community.🥳

5. What do you think members may not realise about the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our volunteer-run gym operating?

Answer: The continued management of equipment, finances, operational planning, fee structures, and of course the introduction of, and continued attention to GymMaster. The committee put in many, many hours.🤩

6. What exercise do you secretly dislike?

Answer: All of them 🫤

7. What’s something about you that our members might be surprised to learn?

Answer: Many years ago, I was a champion Gymnast, a very ordinary Rugby Player, an Auctioneer of note, maybe a bit of a bull**** artist. I can be serious when necessary.

8. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining the Range Community Gym but feels nervous about walking through the door for the first time?

Answer: Just turn up. You will find our trainers friendly and accommodating. Before you know it you will be made to feel part of the Gym family!

🎉 25 YEARS OF OUR COMMUNITY GYM!

What a fantastic morning celebrating 25 years of our gym with our wonderful members, friends and supporters! 🥳

A special highlight was recognising Rob Stockwell for his incredible generosity and significant donations to the club over the years. ❤️ A plaque will soon be erected at the gym in appreciation of Rob’s wonderful support.

Our Lifetime Members, Lou Rommel and Peter Maidans, had the honour of cutting the anniversary cake - a very fitting job for two people who have played such an important part in our club’s history! 🎂

Unfortunately, the weather decided to join the celebrations and turned a little wild! 🌧️ A huge thank you to the Bowls Club and Mapleton Quilters Group for kindly accommodating us in the clubhouse and helping us keep the celebrations going.

And of course, a big thank you to Impromptu for providing the music and adding to the atmosphere. 🎶

Great people, great memories and 25 years of a great community gym! 💪❤️

Here’s to the next 25! 🥂

😂 Some things never change!

Our President is back in the gym with Paul, who apparently prepared him for the Kokoda Track many years ago. 🥾💪

Under the watchful eye of our Treasurer Jeff… and then comes the question:

“Are we done yet?” 😂

Looks like Paul still knows how to make him work! 😜
