Long-standing Goonawarra Golf Club member and ex-Chairman Rodney Sciortino has recently published a new book, Why We Golf: The Game Was Never The Point.

For most golfers, the shots are only part of the story.

What stays with us are the people we played with, the conversations between holes, the bad rounds we can laugh about years later, the friendships that endure, and the characters we meet along the way.

Why We Golf is a reflection on those moments, and on why so many of us keep coming back to the game long after the scorecard has been forgotten.

For Goonawarra members, there may also be a little extra familiarity in some of the stories, characters and golfing experiences that helped shape the book. You may even recognise a few.

It is not a book about improving your swing. It is a book about why golf matters to us in the first place.

The paperback is available now through Amazon Australia, with the Kindle edition also available.
