Blue mountains came out swinging in the first putting 3 runs on after us we started off putting 0 up
2nd innings we came up with 3 runs of our own blue mountains kept the score rolling over putting on another 3 runs
Top of the 3rd
Down by 6 to 3 we came out of the blocks with a 7 run innings hits, walks & hbp only had 1 out when scoring the 7
4th innings
St Maryโs 10 blue mountains 8 it was tight some big plays Jacob pernell thought he could fly tagging a runner while In mid air
5inning
Blue mountains put on 2 runs to tie it up both teams still with there starting pitchers on the hill
6th inning
We were able to manufacture a run through a pinch runner due to injury
Going into the bottom 6 leading by 1
Brad Warner found an extra shoulder to finish the game
We win It 11 to 10
Some words from the players
Coming into the last dig with one run lead Brad Warner held his nerve and shut them down striking out the last batter to win the game.

Wayneโs Wind Up
Div 8 Smith went to MacKillop this week to play in a legitimate 1v2 Grand Final.
MacKillop packed a pitcher who is very good
Saints packed a team that just doesnโt stop believing in themselves
Nick Simpson pitched the first two innings holding MacKillop scoreless.
Unfortunately they held us scoreless too.
Third innings and Aaron Merritt stopped up to pitch. Threw great but wasnโt getting calls that seemed like they should have been given. This allowed the MacKillop bats to wake up. They had a rush and scored 6 runs
In the fourth, down 6 - 0 our bats started waking up as we scored 2 and then Rob Slarke held them to 1 from the mound.
Top of the fifth and we are behind the eight ball but we dig hard!
A combination of Hitting and Patience happened.
Chris Campbell gets on base via a walk, Steve Keast moves him around.
Young Flog Noah cracks a nice double to centerfield bringing Chris home.
Dylan works a walk.
The two speedsters then pull a double steal.
They liked the double steal so much they did it again bringing Noah home and Dylan to third.
Nick Simpson got on base bringing Dylan home and then stealing second.
Rob Slarke steps up, works a walk and says anything Noah and Dylan can do, Nick and I can do too as they pulled a double steal.
Nicks in third, Rob on second and Matt Simpson is at the plate. He gets a ball, a called strike and a foul. And then Nick Simpson either got impatient or read the future as he steals for home as the next pitch is in the air.
He is so close he almost gets hit by his Dads bat as Matt smacks the pitch to left field also bringing home Rob Slarke.
Glen Robertson JUST gets beaten out at first and our bay is done.
We are now all tied up!!!
We just need to hold them out because if we bat again then we got this!
Rob and Glen started the inning off with a nice foul tip for the first out.
Next batter gets on and gets REALLY Lucky as he steals second because Glen had thrown a beauty to second but it literally went thru Nicks mitt. Yep it broke the mitt. Nick recovered the ball and did tag the runner out as he got up and lifted off the bag but sadly the umpire wasnโt looking and didnโt see it.
The next batter got on base due to an error by second as he sprinted and slid at the ball trying to cut it off a bit behind second
That allowed the winning run to cross.
Saints Smith loses in a close one. If we had gotten to bat again I truly believe we win.
Highlights of the game
That super driven, hardcore come back
The throw going thru Nicks mitt and
Noah taking two catches that have him running forever to take them at full stretch. The first one he had run a long way into fair territory to just miss it then the next hit had him running the opposite way to make the catch. Add that double to it and he was pretty much our MVP.
Great pitching and fielding that held a good team scoreless for two innings.
Highlight of the season??
This team. We started in one grade, got raised because we were undefeated then we continued that way for most of the season.
We only lost two games all year and they were both to the eventual champions and both were by one run in the last
The fun we have as a team. Everybody turns up. People are willing to do whatever is best for the team and playing some great baseball.
I really look forward to playing with these guys again. And next time? That titles OURS!
Thanks to Emma Smith for managing all our crazy all season
Also thanks to Fiona Simpson for filling in as scorer for us.
Thank you to all the supporters who turned up to support us
But most of all. Thanks to the team for a great, fun and very successful season.
