300+ games. 3 premierships. Countless memories. One incredible clubman.

This weekend, we celebrate the final game of an absolute Springvale Districts great, with George Angelopoulos calling time on an incredible football career.

George’s football journey speaks for itself. 2x premiership player at Noble Park and a premiership player at Springvale Districts. But perhaps his greatest contribution has been the impact he has had on those around him, particularly the time he has invested in helping develop and coach our players throughout the week.

Always willing to share his knowledge, challenge teammates and help make those around him better, George has played a huge role in the development of our playing group.
Since joining Springy in 2018, George has been an enormous part of our journey from Division 3 to Division 1, contributing not only with his performances on the field, but through his leadership, experience and unwavering commitment to the club.

He is the epitome of a heart-and-soul player and you simply couldn't ask more of a player or a clubman.

There have been countless wins, battles, laughs and memories along the way, but it’s the people George has influenced that will be his lasting legacy long after his playing days are over.
Thank you, George, for everything you've given to this club. ❤️💙

150 GAMES — ALEX “LECKA” HANG

A huge congratulations to Lecka on reaching 150 games!

A great servant of the club both on and off the field, Lecka has shown plenty of resilience, determination and loyalty throughout his time at Springy.

A crafty wingman whose footy has continued to grow year after year, highlighted by his 2021 Thirds Best & Fairest, Lecka has become a highly valued Reserves player and much-loved teammate.

And of course, one of the club’s more regular rotational hair stylists.

It may not have been the season the boys hoped for, but week after week, they continued to show up, put in the work and put on a show. We couldn’t be prouder of the commitment and fight they’ve shown throughout the year. 👏

“This team has faced its fair share of obstacles this season, from injuries to changes in the lineup, but one thing has never changed: their willingness to work hard and give it their all every single week. Their journey to this week’s Grand Final is a reflection of their perseverance, teamwork, and belief in each other”

Coach Kiley:
“C1 have really come together as a team this season, building trust, connection and belief in each other. We’ve learned to back one another, celebrate the wins and lift each other up when things get tough. This Saturday is our chance to put it all out there, play for each other and enjoy the moment”

Couldn’t be prouder of this group of women.

They showed exactly what that Springy spirit is all about and did our club so proud every single week.

What a year it’s been for our C1 girls!

They’ve worked bloody hard to get themselves here. They’ve gained players, lost players, had plenty of changes thrown at them throughout the season and somehow just kept finding a way to make it work.

Through it all, they’ve backed each other, kept showing up and worked their asses off week after week — and now they get the chance to finish it all off in a GRAND FINAL!!

This one is also a little extra special, with one of our girls taking the court for the very last time 🥹 One final game after giving so much to Springy, and what better way to finish than alongside this group playing for a flag. We’ll save the emotional retirement post for later

We’d LOVE to see as many Springy people there as possible getting around the girls and making plenty of noise from the sidelines!!
