Congratulations to MSV's Greg Denison on receiving the Swimming Victoria award for Best New Official of the Year.
Greg is a new MSA official as well as being a new Swimming Australia official, for which we are very grateful!

Vale Barbara Brooks
1934 - 2026
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Barbara Brooks.

A life member of MSV, Barbara was one of the founders of the association, and its first secretary. She also served as State President, Vice President, Swim Meet Coordinator, Delegate for North Lodge Swimming Club, and as a technical official.

Barbara competed in many international masters meets and 40 national masters championships (every national championship from 1976 to 2016). Across long and short course she achieved 106 masters state records, 94 masters national records, and 4 masters world records.

We are deeply grateful for her extraordinary service to and advocacy for masters swimming, which have been key parts of MSV’s history.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Barbara’s family and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11am on Thursday 20th August at South Melbourne Uniting Church, Dorcas St.

Thank you to all of the hardworking volunteers who helped organise and run, and everyone who attended, the MSV Long Course Long Distance Championships on July 12 at Caulfield Grammar School in St Kilda East. It was a fantastic day!
Although Long Distance is one of MSV’s smaller meets (particularly Long Course Lond Distance due to having fewer competition lanes), including splits there were 11 national records and 27 state records broken- some which had been standing since the 90s! Outstanding!
