WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION NEWS:

BRYN IN NEW ROLE WITH BASKETBALL VICTORIA!

Well known coach and staff member, Bryn Smith, has accepted a new full time role with Basketball Victoria.

He has been our valuable Competitions Officer with the WPBA staff team, and head coach of our BU14.1 squad, part of the Association for some time.

Western Port Basketball General Manager, Nathan Sewell, commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Bryn and a wonderful reflection of the contribution he has made to the WPBA over many years. While he will be a significant loss to our team, we are incredibly proud of him and wish him every success in his new role. Bryn will always be a Western Port person, as he will still be coaching our 14.1 Boys. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with Bryn very much and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make at BV.”

We wish Bryn all the very best in this new role and of course look forward to seeing him on court again soon coaching in our Junior Representative Program.

Our Interim Competitions Officer, Tammy Williams, has stepped in at a very busy time with the registrations and preparations in full swing for the upcoming Summer 2026/2027 season.

WINTER 2026 GRAND FINALS UPDATE!

We've had our first two nights of finals fever so far this week and you can see the results from the 46 finalists competing in 23 games of the Youth division.

Thank you to our athletes, coaches, managers, referees, administrators, staff, volunteers, and families for a wonderful couple of nights. Congratulations also to our MVPs.

THE S.E. MELBOURNE PHOENIX X WESTERN PORT BASKETBALL HOLIDAY CAMPS ARE BACK!

Players will have the opportunity to train with Western Port Steelers Coaches and South-East Melbourne Phoenix Coaches in a fun, high-energy environment focused on skill development, confidence and a love of the game.

We’ve got TWO camp options to help players get involved:

SUPERCAMP - Open to all skill levels! A great opportunity to develop your fundamentals, build confidence, challenge yourself and learn from experienced coaches with the chance to maybe meet some Phoenix players! Two dates.

DEVELOPMENT CAMP - Designed for intermediate players looking to refine their skills, improve their game and take their basketball to the next level.

The perfect first introduction to basketball.

Western Port Basketball Association’s Mini Steelers program is designed for children aged 3–5 years, providing a fun and positive introduction to basketball through age-appropriate games, activities and movement.

The perfect first step into basketball.

Western Port Basketball Association is proud to deliver Ford Aussie Hoops, Basketball Australia and Basketball Victoria’s introductory basketball program for children aged 5–10 years.

Western Port Basketball Association’s All Abilities Basketball Program provides a fun, supportive and inclusive environment where people of all abilities can participate in basketball, build confidence, make friends and enjoy being part of the game.
The program has been a valued part of the WPBA community for almost 20 years, welcoming participants across a range of ages, abilities and experience levels.
