Somerton Surf Life Saving Club Somerton Surf Life Saving Club patrols the beach at Somerton between October and April each year. On Saturdays, our Nipper program runs in the afternoon.

The Somerton Surf Life Saving Club was established in 1960 and has over 60 years experience in training individuals of all ages to become valuable assets to their community. As part of the largest volunteer movement in Australia, our club is 100% run by volunteers. Our enviable coastal location, The Somerton Bar & Bistro and The Kiosk cafe, attract large numbers of locals and visitors from near an

d far. Our mission is simple: save lives on the beach through prevention, education, first-aid and rescue services along a two kilometre stretch of coast. During the summer season we patrol every weekend, our members train most nights and some mornings. In the off-season we are always “rescue ready”. If for some reason however, you find yourself in an emergency situation and our club is unattended please call “000”.

Moments of reflection at the Brighton Beach Dawn Service 💚

This morning, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.

As the first light of day broke, it was a time to reflect, remember, and give thanks.

At Somerton Surf Life Saving Club, we recognise the values of service, mateship, and commitment — values that are deeply embedded in our patrols and volunteers.

Today, we remember those who gave everything, and those who continue to serve.

Congratulations to the 36 members across 15 clubs who are set to embark on the 2026 Youth Development Camp next week! 👏

With participants coming from all across the state, from Whyalla to the South East as well as Murray Bridge for the very first time, it’s fantastic to see such strong representation. We look forward to providing an opportunity for our youth surf lifesavers to connect, build friendships, and get involved in a wide range of activities 🎉

The camp will take place at Woodhouse Adventure Park from Monday April 20 - Wednesday April 22.
