Introducing our Womens Captain Chelsea Osburn

Let’s get to know our captain a little…..
Question 1 - How did you first start playing cricket?
I can’t even remember how I got into cricket! All I can recall is playing in the inaugural women’s team for St Joseph’s and it all evolved from there!

Question 2 - What is your proudest moment on the cricket field so far?
Playing in the winning Cricket Victoria WCCC T20 grand final was pretty good, but also helping develop the next generation of female cricketers is also pretty rewarding.

Question 3 - Who was your biggest hero or role model growing up?
100% Alyssa Healy, she was such an inspiration both on and off the field for emerging women in cricket.

Question 4 - What key advice do you have for young kids who want to play cricket?
Don’t be too hard on yourself when starting out, praise the effort rather than the outcome, and ensure you find the fun in our wonderful game 🏏

Introducing our Div 3 Captain Shae De Francesco

Let’s get to know our captain a little…..
Question 1 - How did you first start playing cricket?
I got to under 13’s age and didn’t want to do dancing anymore and didn’t want to play netball so I asked my parents to play footy and cricket and they’ve supported since.

Question 2 - What is your proudest moment on the cricket field so far?
Hard one, there’s plenty I could rattle off! Playing a game with my Mum and my sister would have to be it I reckon.

Question 3 - Who was your biggest hero or role model growing up?
My grandfather, Geoff (Tex) Stafford.

Question 4 - What key advice do you have for young kids who want to play cricket?
Just like anything new you try you have to start somewhere. Get in and have a go.

Question 1 - How did you first start playing cricket?
Started playing cricket with mates in back yard and at Cobden

Question 2 - What is your proudest moment on the cricket field so far?
Would have to be winning the 3 premierships in a row

Question 3 - Who was your biggest hero or role model growing up?
Glen Maxwell batting and Brett Lee bowling

Question 4 - What key advice do you have for young kids who want to play cricket?
Give it a go it’s great fun win or lose as long as you enjoy playing with the people around you!

Question 1 - How did you first start playing cricket?
First started playing cricket with my brothers in the back yard

Question 2 - What is your proudest moment on the cricket field so far?
My proudest moments in cricket would be winning premierships and getting to play with my dad and my brothers in the same team

Question 3 - Who was your biggest hero or role model growing up?
My biggest hero growing up has to be my old man used to love going to watch him play cricket every Saturday

Question 4 - What key advice do you have for young kids who want to play cricket?
My advice I’d give young kids would be to just have fun and enjoy playing with your mates

As the new cricket season approaches, Simpson Cricket Club are thrilled to announce some exciting updates to our club leadership for the upcoming season.

Firstly we would like to welcome our incoming President for the 2026/2027 season, Phil Vines. Phil steps into this role after many years at the club as both a player and volunteer.

As Phil takes over, we would like to extend a huge thank you to Zac Tesselar for his incredible dedication and work as President for the past three years.

While Zac is stepping down, he isn’t going far as he will be moving into a joint Vice President role with our returning Vice President Dave Weel.

We thank you all for your contributions and we cannot wait to see what this season brings!
