Another solid weekend of racing for SBCC.

22/8/26 with mild conditions a strong field of 17 tackles the Avenel road course for the last time this season.
Fletcher Christensen had a tough task to ride solo on scratch chasing 2 minutes to 3 riders, fortunately the catch was made about half way and the group of 4 had a solid chase to multiple groups ahead.
Judy Duke put in another super solo effort on limit only to be caught within the closing kilometres by a fast finishing combo group that included Carl Simmons and Grant Harvey from the 7 minute group, as well as the 11 minute groups.
Grant Harvey stormed home for the win from Brett Bender Carl and Steveo Duke.
Well done Grant 💪and Fletcher for fastest time. Once again thanks to all volunteers for helping out.
Fletcher backed up today at the Rob Vernon memorial with a huge field of 170 riders. He managed to finish in the main bunch that seen the entire field combine with 10 k to go.

Next week will see us out at Glenaroua for our Gravel race , get your entries in via Entryboss, this is a great Gravel course with exceptional gravel roads.

Racing results August 15th.
Last Saturday racing was conducted out on Northwood Rd to Mitchelton and return.

A small field of 13 riders tackled the challenging course in near perfect weather!
30 minutes separated the groups with Judy Duke riding an impressive solo performance on limit to be caught as well as the rest of the groups only a few k’s from the line.
Fletcher Christensen also rode an impressive race riding solo on scratch chasing 2 minutes then attacking the field to take the win 🥇

Next week will see us out on the Avenel road out and back twice circuit. Get your entries in via Entryboss

Racing Results 1st August.
Racing returned this week with a solid field of 19 riders. 6 bunches tackled the hilly Highands Rd out and back twice course 🥵

Some early signs had Jules Bakes and Bender in the hot seat but was not to be with the combined 2nd and scratch groups pushing hard to the finish.
Fletcher Christensen made a solo attack from Telegraph rd to take the win and fastest time well clear of the fast finishing Nev Laffy and Craig Harvey. Special mention to our visiting riders Steve Fairless, Nev Laffy, Isla Shaw cycling club and Roland (Alpine cc) for coming down to race
Fletcher also raced today at the Bendigo crits finishing 2nd in A grade to Kobe Henderson. , thanks to Bendigo & District Cycling Club for having us .

vic time trial series
The club had 3 riders compete at round 1 of the Victorian time trial series at Broadford today.
Fletcher Christensen took out the win in Men’s B , Julia Wood also taking the win in Women’s C and congrats also to Victor Nash getting 2nd or 3rd place in men’s C , result pending for this one due to timing error

Winter break 🥶
We have come to an earlier than anticipated start to our winter break with a few people away over coming weeks including a couple of legendary Commissaires! 😛
The club returns to racing in August , so enjoy the next couple of months and stay warm. There is a few races some club riders will be competing at including ,some northern combine races , Canberra junior tour and Bendigo 3 day tour. Keep an eye on the club socials including instagram page SBCC_23

13 riders came out in fair conditions on Saturday 9th May.
New rider Nick Bimson dominated to take his first win from Brett Bender 2nd , Ian Baker 3rd and Christy Rilen 4th. Fletcher Christensen finished 5th and fastest after also racing and finishing 3rd in the morning at The Hawthorne trophy race.
This coming Saturday 16th May sees riders tackle the flat Avenel to Longwood and return course , entries via Entryboss

Rail trail gravel ride

James and Mr Ian Baker are hitting the trail on good Friday at 9am, going to Cheviot tunnel and back. Food stop in Yea, 95ish k’s
Also we will have some flyers of the attached photo to hand out if you need , looks like a great ride to do as well
