We are incredibly excited for Ruth as she takes on this amazing experience alongside breast cancer paddlers from around the world.

Central Coast to Shine as Co-Host of Landmark 2027 Australian Masters Games 🙌🌴

The countdown to the 2027 Australian Masters Games is underway on the Central Coast, with Council representatives, Games organisers and local sporting leaders coming together to launch the event at polytec Stadium.

The Central Coast will join Newcastle in co-hosting the 21st Australian Masters Games from 13–20 November 2027. Thousands of participants, supporters and volunteers will visit the two regions during the week-long event.

The 2027 Games will mark the 40th anniversary of the biannual Australian Masters Games and its return to NSW for the first time in more than 25 years, with athletes to compete in as many as 40 sports.

Masters athletes are generally aged above 30 years of age, although the event defers to individual National Sporting Organisations for specific sports like gymnastics. No qualification standards are required for most sports.

Polytec Stadium – the Home of Sport, Entertainment and Community Events on the Central Coast – will serve as the Athletes’ Hub on the Central; Coast and will also host the Closing Ceremony.

Central Coast Council Mayor Lawrie McKinna said the launch of the Australian Masters Games marks the beginning of an exciting journey for the region.

"We're delighted to partner with the City of Newcastle to bring the Australian Masters Games to the Central Coast and welcome competitors and supporters from across the country," Mayor McKinna said.

"The Games will generate economic activity for local businesses and provide a fantastic opportunity to highlight our great facilities, attractions and the welcoming spirit of our community."

How exciting to have dragon boat racing here on the Central Coast and to be part of the 40th Anniversary of the Australian Masters Games is fantastic... ever thought of racing... now is the perfect time to contact us today and start preparing for 2027!!!

Well, the morning showers certainly didn’t deter us! Once we got out on the water, we were rewarded with stunning weather, spectacular conditions and beautiful calm water to train on.

Sometimes it’s worth braving those early showers — a fabulous training session with a great crew!

What a wonderful night celebrating 15 years of Deepwater Dragons – and what an amazing cake to mark such a special milestone!
A very special congratulations to Kathy Cummings and Deb East, who were both recognised with Life Membership for their outstanding dedication, commitment and contribution to Deepwater Dragon Boat Club. A wonderful and well-deserved honour.

We would also like to sincerely thank our outgoing Committee for their time, hard work and commitment to the club over the past year.
