💙🖤💛 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS 💛🖤💙
Dear Members,
We would like to provide an important update regarding the future direction of Salisbury West Cricket Club.
Following considerable discussion and consultation, the Committee has made the decision to move our senior men's teams to the Adelaide Suburban Cricket Association (ASCA) for the upcoming season.
This decision has been made with one priority in mind - doing what is right for our players and the long-term future of our club.
As previously communicated, our A and B Grade teams have been given the opportunity to move to ASCA, allowing those players to return to a competition that offers two-day cricket, as well as one-day cricket across the season.
While we had hoped to maintain a pathway for our lower-grade players within the Para District Cricket Association (PDCA), we were advised that, despite our A and B Grade teams leaving the competition, Salisbury West would still be expected to field teams in Grades 1 and 2.
The Committee does not believe it is reasonable or beneficial to our lower-grade players to be required to play at a level significantly beyond their current experience and development simply to satisfy competition requirements.
Our responsibility is first and foremost to the welfare, enjoyment and development of our players.
We believe the move to ASCA provides a better structure for our senior playing group, including:
* A return to two-day cricket, providing greater opportunities for players to develop their skills and experience the longer format of the game.
* One-day cricket opportunities throughout the season.
* A more appropriate level of competition for our players across all grades.
* Greater opportunities for our developing players to play meaningful cricket at a level suited to their experience.
* A sustainable pathway for the continued growth of Salisbury West Cricket Club.
This has not been a decision made lightly. Salisbury West Cricket Club has a proud 60-year history, and the Committee remains committed to building a strong and sustainable future for the club, our players, our juniors and our wider cricket community.
We understand that change can bring questions, and we appreciate the support and understanding of our members as we take this next step.
Ultimately, we believe our club should be a place where players can enjoy their cricket, develop their skills, play at an appropriate level and have the opportunity to progress - without being placed in a position that could negatively impact their confidence, safety or enjoyment of the game.
We are excited about what this next chapter can bring for Salisbury West Cricket Club and look forward to building the future of the club together.
