Andrew Martin Walk 4 Challenge 19/08/2026

Hi Members and friends,

On Monday 24th August, one of our Life Members - Andrew Martin - will begin a long walk from Brisbane to Melbourne to raise awareness and funds in support of Challenge. This cause is close to Andrews heart……so close in fact that it’s the second time that he has gone for a long walk!

Andrew (or as most of you know him as Mono) has been training hard for this event and the final push is just under a week away.

I would like to encourage our members to show their support to Mono, follow the link and donate whatever you can to this wonderful cause.

Cancer is not something that only affects others…..it gets into every crevice of society in one way or another. And when it hits the kids, it hurts even more. Your help is appreciated in any form!

To Mono and the support crew, we hope the wind is behind you all the way, the roads are dry and clean, the blisters are painless, the cramps are rare, and the cause reaches as many people as possible along the way!

Best of luck and stay safe.

Andrew Martin Walk 4 Challenge On August 24th 2026, I will be commencing my Walk for Challenge – a 1800km walk over 30 days, which will see me start my journey at the Brisbane Town Hall and finish at the Challenge Family Centre in West Melbourne.

Hamilton Island Race week gets underway this weekend with the first race scheduled for the 16th of August.

This year we have Vincitore and Y Knot participating – we wish then a wonderful regatta and hopefully they get to bring home some silverware.

Results should be available

Thank You to Our Incredible Volunteers

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting our inaugural Volunteer Thank You Luncheon, celebrating the people who give their time, skills and enthusiasm to make our club the wonderful place it is.

Whether you volunteer on the water, in the tower, on the committee, helping with maintenance, coaching juniors, organising events, or quietly working behind the scenes, every contribution makes a difference. Our club simply couldn’t operate without you.

The luncheon was a fantastic success, filled with great food, plenty of laughter, and the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to the people who keep Safety Beach Sailing Club running.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday and helped make the day such a wonderful success.

If we accidentally missed anyone from the invitation list, we sincerely apologise. It was certainly unintentional, and we want you to know that your contribution to our club is truly valued and appreciated.

The overwhelming success of yesterday’s luncheon has already confirmed one thing – this will become an annual tradition at Safety Beach Sailing Club. It’s a small way for us to recognise the extraordinary volunteers who make our club such a welcoming and successful community. A special thanks to David Snooks and the team for providing such a delicious lunch.

From all of us on the Executive Committee, thank you for everything you do. We truly couldn’t do it without you. 💙⛵

Exciting News for Members!

Thanks to the fantastic work of James Anderson, Safety Beach Sailing Club now has a weather station and live camera installed on the south-eastern side of the clubhouse roofline.

James is currently fine-tuning a few settings on the weather station, so we'll need to wait a little longer before the live weather data becomes available. The good news is that the live camera is already up and running and ready for members to enjoy.

The camera is best suited to daylight viewing, so images captured overnight won't be as clear. To give you a preview of what you can expect, I've included a few screenshots taken this afternoon, showcasing the stunning views from the clubhouse on a beautiful sunny day.

Whether you're checking the conditions before heading to the club or simply enjoying the spectacular outlook, this is another great addition to our facilities. A huge thank you to James Anderson for making it happen!

Brass Monkey Winter Pursuit Series Race 4 (28/06/2026), photos taken onboard Echo Beach 8405 skippered by co-owner Anthony Creed.

7 yachts set up in heavy fog and awaited race, which was delayed by 30 minutes. Impressive colourful spinnaker runs on a windward/leeward course however mostly in light winds. When the fog lifted, it was a beautiful sunny winter day on the Bay!
