Return to Pole Dancing After a Break | Achieve Pole Studio 27/08/2026

Menopause has knocked me about. I gained weight, my body changed. My strength dropped. There are moves I can't safely do anymore. A few years ago this is not something I saw coming.

It’s been a hard thing to come to terms with after 17 years of pole and two World Championship titles. But between running the studio and going through menopause, my body changed, and I stopped giving myself any grace about it.

If you've been away from pole and feel like your body has "fallen behind," I wrote something for you.

It's about the "weight vest test" I use with students being too hard on themselves, why muscle memory is real, and what actually helps when you're finding your way back.

It's a question we get sometimes, and usually not asked in good faith.

The answer is simple: bare skin is what actually grips the pole, fabric just makes you slide off it.

Share this with someone who's ever asked.

Katerina walked in with no upper-body strength and a quiet worry: "maybe pole was for petite girls, not her. "

What she found instead is a pole studio that made her feel welcome, and a sport that's all about technique, not body type. Now she can't wait to keep learning every class.

That's what "This Is How I Achieve" is about. Showing up, even when you're not sure you belong.

You almost eat it mid-move and somehow you're still getting the greatest-of-all-time treatment. Tag an instructor if this is exactly them.

Somehow these hands can barely catch a phone but they're expected to hold up an entire bodyweight mid-spin.

Tag your pole bestie who gets it.

Nobody actually leaves the studio when they say they will. Tag someone who's never once actually left on time.

Pole Kisses: The Truth About Pole Bruises | Achieve Pole Studio 18/08/2026

Your legs after your first pole class: covered in bruises.
Your brain after your first pole class: is this normal?? Should I stop??

Short answer: yes, it's normal. No, please don't stop.

We call them pole kisses for a reason. They fade. Your grip gets softer. Your confidence gets stronger. And one day you'll look at a bruise and just shrug because it means you tried something new.

New blog post is up now explaining exactly why this happens and what actually helps.
