Well… Battle Grounds 2026, you bloody beauty! 🤘🧩
What a weekend! If there was an award for keeping the crowd entertained, we reckon we’d have been right up there. Between the racing, the repairs and maybe… just maybe… giving the car a couple of different viewing angles 😜, the Puzzle Piece Racing crew definitely kept everyone guessing.
We might not have won it, but we had an absolute crack and came away with memories that’ll last a lifetime.
None of this happens without an amazing crew behind us.
🍻 Tim, Nomes and the whole family – thanks for helping us get to Lowmead and looking after us all weekend.
🔧 Hayden, Jarad and Jess – legends in the pits. Every time we needed something, you were already onto it.
🪢 Craig – mate, you were an absolute machine on the rope all weekend. We couldn’t ask for better.
❤️ Rhiannon and Stacey – thanks for putting up with the late nights, broken parts, stress levels through the roof and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with racing. We couldn’t do this without you.
👏 And the biggest shout-out goes to Cam, Niki and everyone behind Battle Grounds. The amount of work that goes into an event like this doesn’t go unnoticed. You put on one hell of a show and we’re already counting down until next year.
The weekend…
Friday afternoon and Saturday morning we were on it, charging through the round robin heats and earning ourselves a spot in the Winners Semi.
Then… the old girl decided she’d had enough.
We rolled into the Winners Semi with an exhaust manifold leak so bad it sounded like it’d just escaped Clarkey’s Graveyard. 🤣 We limped our way through, finished last in the heat and made the call to skip the Losers Semi.
Some teams race… we decided to become mechanics.
Spanners flying, everyone pitching in and plenty of colourful language later, we had the car back together just in time for Happy Hour.
One last shot.
The old girl dug deep, got us through and punched our ticket into Sunday’s final.
Saturday night? Just a casual alternator change before bed… because apparently sleeping is overrated.
Sunday’s final started exactly how we wanted. We launched hard… then, because race cars have a sense of humour, we lost boost halfway through the 2.5-lap final.
At that point it was a matter of hanging onto it, keeping the loud pedal buried and seeing what happened.
Somehow… we still crossed the line 4th overall!
Considering everything the weekend threw at us, we’re absolutely stoked with that result.
Congratulations to every team that lined up. The racing was unreal, the competition was fierce and the banter was even better.
Now it’s back into the shed…
The kettle will be on, the welder will be glowing, the toolbox will be emptied onto the floor and the boost leak has officially been put on notice.
Three Car is only six weeks away… and the Puzzle Piece Racing crew will be back.
Hopefully this time we’ll spend more time on all four wheels than we did trying to see what the roof looks like. 😜🏁🧩

🚨 Breaking News… 🚨
The rumour mill is working overtime, and word on the street is Bent Rod Racing might have pulled the pin on Battle Grounds… 😳
Now we’re not saying they’re nervous about lining up next to the mighty 500hp TD42 of Puzzle Piece Racing… but we’ve also never seen them and a withdrawal announcement in the same room. 🤷♂️😂
Come on boys, don’t leave us hanging! We were looking forward to a good old-fashioned race to the first corner, a bit of mud flying, and plenty of laughs.
Hopefully it’s all just paddock gossip and we’ll see Bent Rod Racing on the start line where they belong.
Either way, Battle Grounds is shaping up to be an absolute cracker, and we can’t wait to catch up with everyone for a weekend of racing, laughs, and a bit of friendly rivalry.
See you all there! 🏁💪🍻
Joe McKay was kind enough to flick us this Birds Eye view of stage 3.

Well it’s been a hot minute since our last race ( 9 months to be exact ) so it was time to head out for a local comp.
Revolution Off Road Events Inc. put together a stellar short course event for the winch truck community. Their efforts to get this off the ground were beyond exceptional along with some hard working volunteers. 10 points guys 💪
We teamed up with JDN Racing to pull off a 5th place overall with a couple of 2nd place and one 3rd on stages. We would like to thank JDN and their family’s for the support and putting in such an absolute outstanding effort supporting worst pace scenario. I’d like to thank Rhiannon Ferry and my children for just being there to support us fed and all under control.
Craig Maddy and Jason Holding … well you guys rocked the coms, were on point and the little legs were moving and we got results. We cannot express how much appreciation we have for you fellas. 🫶
We would also like to say a special congratulations to the winners Rum budget racing, team why not on their deserved second place and jumping monkeys on a solid 3rd.
We would also like to thank all the other competitors for the efforts and commitments getting to the comp and just being good humans.
Oh and thanks Trevor aka Aaron Ellis for just being Trevor / Aaron.
Let’s get this year moving and see you all at battle grounds for an epic year.
