Thank you to everyone who attended our season launch this morning! It was wonderful to see lots of returning players and also many new faces!

🏏 What is Under 12 cricket?

We had a few parents asking today what Under 12 cricket actually involves, so we thought we’d explain it a little more!

Under 12s is a great next step for children who are ready to move beyond the fundamentals of Cricket Blast and start playing matches as part of a team.

🏏 How does U12 cricket work?

Under 12s is a modified T20-style game, designed to introduce children to proper cricket while making sure everyone gets involved and has the opportunity to develop their skills.

It is played with a hard cricket ball, but the rules are modified for junior players.

When batting, each player faces a set number of balls, even if they get out along the way. This means everyone gets a genuine opportunity to bat rather than potentially facing only one or two balls and having their game finished.

Players also get opportunities to bowl and field, with the emphasis on participation, learning the game, developing skills and having fun as part of a team.

Children don’t need to already be experienced cricketers or own a full set of cricket gear to play.

The Club has the equipment players need, including bats, pads, gloves and helmets. Each child will need their own abdominal guard.

🏏 What are we looking at this season?

Depending on numbers and interest, we are looking to have one Renmark North U12 team playing on Sunday mornings against other clubs from across the Riverland.

We are also considering another option for children who might be looking for a little more than Cricket Blast, but aren’t quite ready to make the jump to the Sunday U12 competition.

Depending on interest, we may run shorter matches after school during the week to give these children an opportunity to experience match play and continue developing their skills.

If you haven’t registered yet and are thinking about it, please message the Club and let us know what your child may be interested in.

Likewise, if your child is already registered for U12s or Cricket Blast and you think they might be interested in the proposed mid-week matches, please let us know.

At this stage we’re simply trying to gauge interest so we can work out what opportunities we can offer our young Bluetongues this season. 🏏

Message the Club to find out more and let us know what option works best for you and your family!

We are still on the look out to support our Club! Could it be you?

VOLUNTEER WANTED – CLUB SECRETARY 🏏

Renmark North Cricket Club is looking for someone to take on the role of Club Secretary for the upcoming season.

The Secretary is an important part of keeping the club organised and running smoothly. It is one of our busier committee roles, but the workload is manageable and spread across the season.

What’s involved?

* Coordinating committee meetings, including dates, agendas and minutes
* Monitoring the club email inbox and responding to correspondence
* Following up correspondence with the relevant committee members or volunteers
* Maintaining the club’s Working with Children Check register
* Coordinating the SACA affiliation checklist and associated requirements
* Helping coordinate end-of-season Presentation Day awards and the presentation/slideshow
* General administrative support as things pop up throughout the season

You don’t need to know everything from day one. There will be plenty of support and a handover to help you get started.

If you’re organised, reasonably comfortable with email and basic documents, and would like to contribute to the club behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

Interested or want to know a bit more about what’s involved? Send us a message.
