💦 WATER SAFETY IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST BEING ABLE TO SWIM 💦

Even children who are confident and capable swimmers can panic when faced with an unexpected situation in the water.

That’s why at Waterwise, we like to introduce our swimmers to a range of different scenarios and experiences — because the more prepared they are, the better equipped they are to remain calm if something unexpected happens. ❤️

This week, some of our Learn to Swim children are practising paddling their raft back to safety while wearing life jackets. 🛟

Throughout our lessons, we also incorporate different water safety activities such as:
👕 Swimming in different clothing
🥽 Swimming without goggles
🛟 Using life jackets and flotation devices
🌊 Practising unfamiliar or unexpected situations
🛶 Learning how to move themselves towards safety

These experiences are all layers of water safety. They help children understand that swimming in a lesson environment is very different from finding themselves unexpectedly in the water.

Our goal isn’t just to teach children how to swim — it’s to help them develop the skills, confidence and calmness they need to respond as safely as possible if they ever face a real-life situation.

Because water safety is about being prepared for the unexpected. 💙

👕 WHAT TO WEAR:
For all Learn to Swim & Mini Squad classes, please dress your little one in long clothing over their swimwear this week.

👉 Learn to Swim classes are all classes where a parent/guardian is NOT required to accompany the child in the water.

That’s right — NO GOGGLES THIS WEEK. 👀

We’ve got lots of fun activities and valuable safety tips planned to help your child build important skills and confidence around the water. 💙

🏊 Term 4 swimming registrations are now open!

Spaces are limited, and some days already have a waitlist, so register your interest now to give your child the best chance of securing a place and starting their swimming journey in time for summer. ☀️

We cater for children from 4 months to approximately 12 years old, supporting every stage - from learning to submerge and feel comfortable in the water to developing refined stroke skills.

Our lessons build confidence and ability, helping little swimmers become capable, confident and ready for a lifetime of enjoying the water.

Such a great opportunity for our little swimmers to get a taste of race life. Central Cairns Swimming is holding a meet, go along, sign up on the day and have a good time being introduced to a race meet.

Recommended for our level 4 (Seahorse) and above swimmers.
