๐ WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY ๐
Today, Quirindi Rugby Union Club stands with everyone affected by su***de, those doing it tough, those who have lost someone they love, those who have survived and those supporting others.
Country rugby is about much more than what happens on the field. Weโre teammates, volunteers, supporters, families and mates and we look after one another long after the final whistle.
If someone at training, around the clubhouse, on the farm or in town seems quieter or more withdrawn than usual, trust your gut and check in.
You donโt need the perfect words. A simple, โHey mate, you havenโt seemed yourself lately, are you going alright?โ could start a conversation that changes a life.
This yearโs theme, โChanging the Narrative on Suicide,โ reminds us that the way we talk about su***de matters. When we replace silence with connection, judgement with understanding and fear with compassion, we give people the space to feel heard and supported.
So pull up a chair, have a yarn, make the call or send the message. Donโt wait until youโre standing beside someone at training or sharing a drink after the game.
If youโre thinking it, ask R U OK? Any Day.
For tips on having a supportive conversation, visit ruok.org.au/how-to-ask.
If youโre going through a difficult time, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. If someoneโs life is in immediate danger, call 000.
Look after your teammates. Check in on your mates. You are never alone. ๐
