🏀🌈 WEDNESDAY NIGHTS ARE SPECTRES NIGHTS! 🌈🏀

Last Wednesday night, our Melbourne Spectres Pride Basketball teams hit the court and had the TIME OF THEIR LIVES! 🔥🙌

Wins and losses — everyone got to bring their best selves to the court. 💜

Because being a Spectre isn’t just about what’s on the scoreboard. It’s about showing up, giving it your all, backing your teammates and being proud of exactly who you are. 🌈🏀

There were big plays, plenty of laughs, high-fives, great competition and even bigger smiles. Every team brought something special to the night!

That’s the magic of Spectres basketball, play hard, have fun, be yourself and do it together. 💪🌈

🚨 Club Training Update – Gym Closure Extended 🚨

Unfortunately, we have received a further update from Prahran High School regarding the condition of the gymnasium following the sprinkler activation on Wednesday.

After inspections by multiple contractors and the Victorian School Building Authority, the school has advised that the damage to the gym floor is more extensive than initially expected. As a result, the gymnasium remains closed and access is currently prohibited while repairs and safety assessments continue.

What this means for the Melbourne Spectres:

* ❌ All club training is cancelled for the next two weeks.
* 📅 At this stage, this affects all training sessions until Thursday 20 August 2026.
* ⏳ The school is unable to confirm whether the closure will extend beyond this period and expects to provide another update towards the end of the week commencing 17 August.

We know this is incredibly disappointing, especially as many of us were hoping to be back on court sooner. Unfortunately, this situation is completely outside the control of both the Melbourne Spectres and Prahran High School.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the school works through the repairs and ensures the facility is safe to reopen. As soon as we receive further information, we will let everyone know.

Thank you for your continued support—we can’t wait to be back on court together as soon as it’s safe to do so.

🚨 Club Training Update - 06 August 🚨

Unfortunately, we have been advised by Prahran High School that there will be no Melbourne Spectres club training until further notice.

This morning, the school experienced an emergency evacuation after a sprinkler was accidentally activated in the gymnasium. The incident has caused water damage to the gym floor, and the full extent of the damage is currently being assessed by the school’s make-safe and maintenance teams.

As a result, this week’s training session has been cancelled. Prahran High School will provide an update later this week regarding the condition of the gym and whether it will be available for next week’s training. We will share further updates as soon as we receive them from the school.

💚 What a performance from Team Green! 🏀

The scoreboard may read:

💚 Melbourne Spectres Team Green 37

…but that score doesn’t tell the full story.

We took on the top team in the competition and had them under real pressure. With 9 minutes to play, Team Green was leading, forcing them to change their game plan. They responded by hitting four consecutive three-pointers—sometimes that’s just how the game goes.

To finish just 9 points behind the league leaders is a fantastic effort and a real reflection of how far this team has come.

As Chris said:

“Within 10 points of the top team is a bloody good effort.” 💚

And Connor, who was somehow following the game all the way from Stonehenge, summed it up perfectly:

“Looked like such a good game. Way to claw it back and stick with them in the second half.”

That’s exactly what Team Green did—stayed together, trusted each other, and fought until the final buzzer.

Every week this team continues to improve, and performances like this show we can compete with anyone in the competition. The result didn’t go our way this time, but there’s plenty to be proud of and even more to build on.

What a performance from our Green Machine! 💪🌈

With awesome teamwork, relentless defence, and some sensational ball movement, Melbourne Spectres Green claimed a fantastic 36–31 victory over Pointsmaxxers! Every player played their part, proving once again that when we play together, we shine together. 🌟

🌟 Player shout-outs:
🔥 Rory Shepard lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 15 points, leading the charge with confidence and composure!
⚡ Lei Laxton-Badley was unstoppable, adding 9 points and making big plays when they mattered most.
🎯 Thomas Latimer knocked down 6 points while bringing intensity at both ends of the floor.
💪 Radam Ridwan chipped in with 4 valuable points and never stopped hustling.
👏 Daniel Brown added 2 important points and made every minute count.
🙌 A special shout-out to Kevin Conlon, Alex Lourey and Chris Laxton, whose defence, rebounding, screens, passing and relentless effort helped create opportunities all game long. Not every contribution shows up on the scoresheet, but every contribution helped secure this win. 💚

✨ This was a true team victory—great communication, unselfish basketball, incredible support from the bench, and plenty of Spectres pride on display.

🌈✨ RAINBOW BATTLED TO A HARD-FOUGHT DRAW! ✨🌈

What a game! 💪🔥 It was an absolute team effort from start to finish, with everyone stepping up when it mattered most.

🛡️ Ben was a defensive wall, saving us time and time again with huge stops when we needed them most.

⚡ Javi was everywhere, picking pockets with clutch steals before turning on the jets and going coast-to-coast.

🏃 Clio somehow managed to be exactly where they needed to be on every play, while 🎯 Thomas kept the ball moving beautifully before returning to their favourite office beyond the three-point line.

And our powerhouse trio absolutely brought it:
🏀 Kirstie owned the boards, grabbing every rebound they could get.
💥 Kobie put in a relentless shift at both ends of the floor, battling hard in the key all game.
🔥 Nat never stopped—shooting, blocking, hustling and giving 100% on every possession.

Honestly, the MVP could have gone to any one of them, but this week it goes to Kirstie. 🌟 Their rebounding was outstanding, but it was thier communication and leadership that kept everyone connected and helped create some huge scoring opportunities.

A draw never comes easy, and this one was earned through grit, teamwork and determination. Be proud of yourselves, Rainbow—you left everything on the court! 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

💜✨ Tom, Javi, Clio & Zac were absolutely 🔒 on defence, putting together some of our best team basketball all season! 🌈💪

🏀🌟 Nat battled through double teams all night and still dropped 10 points! Talk about determination! ✨🔥

💥🌈 Kirstie & Madeline owned the rebounds, cleaning up everything that came their way and keeping us in the fight! 💪✨

🎯🌈 Zac & Tom splashed some HUGE three-pointers that had us believing right until the final buzzer! 💜🙌

🌟 Credit to the Chargers—their #52 had an incredible game, scoring 19 of their 29 points. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a superstar performance! ✨👏

But what we’ll remember most is the hustle, the teamwork, the smiles, the encouragement, and the way this team never stopped believing in each other. That’s what being a Spectre is all about. 🌈💜✨
