What a day to finish the season.
Glorious spring sunshine, a full field for our Ambrose team event, and a golf course that finally behaved itself ...mostly!!! Plenty of good golf, a few creative shots, and the usual debate about how a drive could go that far ( Will Bittner)!!!
From there it was onto the lawns in front of the clubhouse, where Temperamental Jukebox had the crowd in fine voice as the sun went down. Hard to beat a cold drink, live music and a Port Victoria evening.
Then came the main event; a traditionally prepared and cooked Thai dinner for around 65 members and guests. Our wonderful Thai chefs worked their magic in the clubhouse kitchen all afternoon and served up a feast that had the room going quiet, which around here is the highest compliment going!!!
In amongst the eating, our major trophy winners for the season were presented with their silverware. Congratulations to our A Grade Champion Lachlan Field, B Grade Champion Ben Groombridge and C Grade Champion Will Bittner; thoroughly deserved, and well applauded. Congratulations too to all our other trophy and award winners on the night.
And to top the night off, the Silent Auction was concluded with more than $1,100 raised for Novita. An outstanding effort. Our sincere thanks to everyone who donated an item, to everyone who bid, and to those who bid twice because someone else was bidding.
To our volunteers, our chefs, our sponsors and everyone who came along; thank you. That is how you end a season.

IMPORTANT TEE-OFF TIME CHANGE
PVGC’s End-of-Season Dinner and Presentation Night is happening this Saturday, 19 September.
Please note that golf will now tee off at 12 noon, not the previously advertised time of 12.30 pm.
After golf, "Temperamental Jukebox" will be playing live on the lawns in front of the clubhouse from 4 pm to 6 pm.
With a beautiful 25-degree day forecast, it is shaping up to be a terrific afternoon of golf and live music, followed by our end-of-season Thai dinner and presentations.
Please share this post and help us make sure everyone knows about the earlier tee-off time.
Saturday’s program:
• Golf tee-off: 12 noon

Thanks to Thiepvale,Warialda and Hotty( Andrew Heidrich) for providing the Machinery and manpower to clear out Bobbyalla trees and construct a viewing platform out of bales of hay...This is the height that a possible bowling green would be and showcases the Bay....Everyone in the community is invited to a PAR 3 Ambrose on Sunday 20th September Tee-off at 3pm Names in by 2.30pm free Sausage sizzle about 5.30 pm....Everyone is welcome either to play golf or just come for tea and a chance to ask any questions about the proposal....

Seafood, Swing and a Spectacular Storm!



What a fantastic day at Port Victoria Golf Club for our annual “Seafood and Swing” Ambrose Day!



The weather certainly added some excitement, with play delayed while a spectacular thunderstorm rolled through. Once it cleared, golfers from Adelaide and clubs across Yorke Peninsula took to a course presented in magnificent condition.



The day started with a barbecue breakfast, followed by nine holes of golf and a scrumptious seafood lunch featuring prawns, oysters and whiting. After completing the final nine holes, it was back to the clubhouse for another barbecue, just in case anyone was still hungry!



Congratulations to our winning team:



Mal White, Mick Crkovnik, Brett Milkins and Glen Travena, with a fantastic nett score of 56.3.



Runners-up were the Curramulka boys, Angus and David “Daffy” Short, Merv Camp and Rob Lucas, with 57.25.

Saturday’s Stableford was once again won by Mick Crkovnik, who also claimed nearest the pin on the sixth. The ever-reliable Kingsley Fullarton finished runner-up.
