The Moyne Shield was played yesterday in very windy conditions. Koroit Bowls Club won the day with 26 shots up. MacArthur finished second with 18 shots up. Port Fairy and Mortlake clubs also participated. The trophy was presented by Mayor Jordie Lockett, who congratulated the club's on the continuation of the annual tournament.

Please note that the Seniors Month of come and try dates are now changed and will be held on Wednesday of 14th and 21st October.These two sessions will be a light-hearted and fun introduction to the game of bowls. Happening between 10am and 12pm the sessions are free.

The Men's Triples Championships Final was played today and in a very close match Ian Woods, Murray Arnold and Colin Dempsey won by one shot over Steve Gibb, Andrew Pink and Gary Blain. Congratulations to all finalists on what was a very exciting match. On Saturday October 3rd the championship singles rounds begin. Mean while tomorrow is The Moyne Shield and next Sunday will be the practice match against Timboon.

Club Triples Championships for men and ladies commenced to day. The men's matches will continue on to next Saturday. The Ladies title was run and won today. With three teams competing the competion was very close.It was great to see new bowlers having a go. In the final Hester Woodrup, Wendy Arnold and Felicity Lowe won with two shots against Susan Hamilton, Jill Oswin and Lyn Harris. It was a excellent match with all bowlers bowling well. Both teams had great support from the onlookers. Perfect weather conditions prevailed.

Today was Opening Day for this seasons play. The first jack was thrown by Helen Moloney a life member and club stalwart for many years. It was great having Helen do the honours. The other club stalwart Jack Miller bowled the first bowl of the season. We hope you have a wonderful season Jack. Two games of Triples were played and the winners were, Graeme Jessen, John Gleeson and Trish Smith congratulations to you all. Runners up were Kevin (Pebbles ( Smith, Brian Taylor and Lyn Harris, whom all bowled well. Next Saturday will be the Men's and Women's Triples Championships beginning at 9.30 am. Make sure you have your entry in by 6pm next Friday. Support our club events and get a team together, it helps our club grow.

Through out winter Scroungers has been played every Sunday afternoon. It has been very popular and alot of fun. The overall handicap winner was Colin Dempsey, who played consistently good bowls. Runner up was Jim Lowe who also bowled very well and both bowlers were hard to beat. In third place was Hester Woodrup. Many thanks to Jim for his great work in conducting Scroungers and the paper work involved. Every one who played really enjoyed the season.

October is Seniors Month and the club is offering two sessions of how to play bowls. The sessions will be on Wednesday 7th and 14th at 10am to 12pm. Sessions are free and bowls will be provided. If numbers are enough one session could be an Indoor Bowls lesson. Come and enjoy learning how to play and all the wonderful facilities the club has to offer.
