Such a great performance from you guys!

Your stage presence really levelled up in the biggest way last semester. The faces. The attitude. The musicality. The confidence to perform BIG.

Its like you were saying to everyone who was watching you... “This is our stage, and we’re here to have fun!”

And honestly? It really was so fun to watch!

We’re so proud of how much you have all grown... not just as dancers, but as PERFORMERS. We love that you have discovered that Hip Hop isn’t just about getting the choreography right. It’s also about personality. It’s about confidence! It’s about committing to every moment and letting the audience feel your energy.

We have a feeling this is only the beginning for you all… 👀😏🔥

There are some dancers who seem to have been born with a little something extra. ✨️

The musicality. The natural lines. The instinct to move with a quality that can’t really be taught. The ability to walk into a room, or on to a stage, and, without even trying, make you stop and watch.

Willow has that.

Willow has a natural talent that is impossible to overlook. But what makes us even prouder... is that she has never. once. relied on it.

Because talent might be the thing that makes you start, but the work you put in once you’ve started is what will determine how far you go.

And man, oh man, she works.

She works when no one is watching. She repeats the things that don’t come easily. She listens, she takes corrections, she asks questions, she pushes through the moments when something feels frustrating or difficult. She doesn’t expect her natural ability to carry her all the way... she uses it as a starting point, and then she puts in the hours to make her capabilities even greater.

That is the part of her journey that deserves to be celebrated just as much as the beautiful moments we see on stage.

Talent is a gift. But talent paired with work ethic is a force to be reckoned with ❤️

Deepest thanks as always to Miss Olivia, for your guidance of Willow last semester. She is so lucky to have a teacher like you!

And Willow, your artistry and ability to portray emotion in your dancing grew so much last semester. It was stunning to witness this skill grow within you!
You developed a level of finesse to your dancing, and you saw for yourself..... it brought tears to my eyes whenever I watched you rehearse in the studio.

May you continue to grow and be inspired to dance and follow your heart. And may WE all continue to be so lucky to watch your journey unfold and be inspired by you! 💫

Ohh, so, you dance?
That's cool.

But... do you dance like OUR Adult Hip Hop class??? 😏

Because let me tell you... this isn't just a dance class. They are something else!! 🔥

🖤 I love that they all carve out the hour for themselves each week, to put the day down, show up, and remember how gooooood it feels to move and dance.

🖤 I love that there's never pressure to be perfect, and yet they still find the space to push and challenge themselves.

🖤 I love the vibe in the room every week and the support they show each other.
I really think this plays such a massive part in being able to learn a routine like this.

🖤 And then… I love that (somewhere between learning the choreography and laughing at themselves) they just casually pull together an ABSOLUTELY ICONIC performance like this one was.
We still haven't recovered!!! 😱😱😱

Gasp! You were all so incredible. There are truly no words. Miss Kobe really worked you hard last semester, and you all stepped up!
What an honour and an inspiration it was to watch you, and to scream our lungs out with appreciation for you all, whilst you were smashing it out there on the stage!

There is no class quite like this Hip Hop class.
And don't we all know it! 🔥

When I go to watch a dance concert... I'll be honest, the littlest dancers are ALWAYS in my top favs!

There's just something so magical about watching them have that experience on stage, where everyone cheers and claps the loudest for them, and you can see their little faces just beaming with pride!

As I always say, even if you don't have a dancer performing in our matinee shows, they're so worth coming along to watch, if for nothing else than the absolute joy of witnessing THESE moments!!!
It fills your heart with a special kind of happiness. Can't explain it. It just does. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

A huge well done to these beautiful little ballerinas, who were so impressive at our Showcase - they performed two incredible routines, which they knew inside out.
And their musicality, their memory of the choreography, it was all just brilliant!
Such a huge accomplishment for small humans! 🧚‍♀️

Also a huge thank you once again to Miss Natasha, for your support to this class, and to Miss Olivia, last semester. 💖

Hands up if you LOVED Hamilton! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋

So. The story goes like this:
When we announced we were doing Musicals as the theme for the Showcase... pretty much every class immediately requested the same thing: "CAN WE DO HAMILTON!??" 🤣

And we totally get it! Because we love it too!

What you all didn't know... is that Miss Kobe shotgunned doing a Lyrical routine to "Wait For It" ...ohh, lets say... about... three years ago? 😆
She was patiently waiting for the Musicals theme to come around so she could do Hamilton. And ain't nobody was taking that from her!!

So, after careful consideration, I suggested perhaps we could do a collab.
My Wednesday Hip Hop class with Miss Kobe's Wednesday Lyrical.
Well.
Turned out it was an absolute match made in heaven. 🤝

We couldn't have been happier with how hard you all worked, both individually and together as a group, and they way you performed this epic dedication to Hamilton.
So many in our audience said it was their fav, and it wasn't any wonder why!

You guys are forever setting your sights on the bar, and then raising it higher. 🚀

A huge congrats and well done to you ALL 👏
We will remember this one for a long time to come.

Some groups make you watch them.
Others make you FEEL.

And this is that group.

I dont quite know how to explain it, but they have an extraordinarily talented way of dancing with such depth and honesty and vulnerability.
And hence, they take the audience on the most beautiful journey with them everytime.

This is exactly what we want from a Lyrical dancer.
We want them to show us all the emotions and all the layers of musicality in a performance.
And wow, these dancers all do it so, so well.
They are all seriously talented beyond words!

I Dreamed A Dream...

..of a group of dancers just like this. ✨️

Dancers who would pour their whole hearts into every single class, and every single performance.
Dancers who would soak up every little crumb of your advice and instruction, and transform into the most sensational performers, year after year, right before your eyes 🤩
All of that... is this class.
And what a dream it is to teach them!

You can just feeeeeel their energy the moment they all walk into the studio on Tuesday afternoons. Eager and ready to dance, every time. Its 90mins of absolute joy, being in the studio with you all.

I honestly couldn't choose my fav of your three routines from the mid year showcase.
They were all so awesome!
But... I did love how much YOU all loved your Tap dance. The Audition, from 42nd Street .

Even with all the little challenges I threw in there, and the bazillion or so tap springs you had to do, 🙃🤣  I think the acting parts really sold it and made it as entertaining as it was.

And ill be honest, the way you pulled it off so successfully, is what gave me the idea for your next Ballet routine that we will now work on for our performance in November 😉 IYKYK. Its going to be amazing.

Bravo again, superstars!
We couldn't be prouder of you.
Nor could we be more thankful, because you remind us all time and time again, exactly why we fell in love with dance in the first place 🩷

Kindness is kinda our thing. 🫶

And when I think of kindness, I think of this group. Who are just the most beautiful representation of what we hold so dearly as one of our core values.

Its in the applause for someone else's success.
The support you show when things don't quite go to plan.
The older student who takes the time to cheer on the younger ones.
The respect we show for each other in class and backstage.
And oh so much more!

Great dancers may be remembered for their talent, but more importantly, great people are remembered for the way they make others feel.

If we can be kind, respectful, encouraging humans alongside confident performers, then we've achieved something far greater than a perfect routine.

This class blows me away every single week with the way they show kindness above all else.
They uplift those around them, always.
Including me!

Those who were sitting in on rehearsals likely saw the tear trickle down my cheek in the middle of their Dear Evan Hansen routine... 🥲🩵
because it couldn't have been more perfect that THIS group were dancing (their little hearts out!) to a song about hope, and being seen and supported as a human.
It hit me right smack bang in the feels.
(As did the group hug that immediately followed their stage rehearsal. 😭 )

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, beautiful dancers. For being the kind, awesome humans that you are. It is an honour to know you all, to guide you, and to watch your inner-light sparkle even brighter as you dance.

And thank you to every dancer, family, teacher, and friend who chooses kindness, every single day.
You are the heart of this community, and because of you, Unite is so much more than a dance studio. It's home. 🤍

Give it up for our newest class at Unite Dance Studio this year: they're the high-vibe, triple-threat superstars from... our Musical Theatre class! 👏👏

They sing! They dance! They act!
And wow ohh wow did they impress our socks off at the Showcase with two of the most spectacular, colourful, entertaining routines ever!

I know many of you have danced in other classes for some time now, and the stage is not a foreign place for you.
But I know the real challenge with this class, and both of these stunning routines, was for you to find your voice and sing your little hearts out, whilst still dancing and performing.

It's a huge task! And it can be a little nerve-wracking for even the most seasoned performer.
But as I always say - believe in yourself because WE CAN DO HARD THINGS! 💪

It was such an honour and a joy to support you all through the first semester of discovering your voice, learning some new skills and facing your nerves head on!
We peeled back layers and layers of self doubt each week, and I smiled non-stop as I watched you all replace your doubt with confidence and self belief.
What an absolute privilege!

Onwards and upwards, superstars. Can't wait to see what you uncover in yourself in this next semester.

I tell ya. The magic of musical theatre is REAL ✨️

We'd love to hear your feedback! What did you think of the Musical Theatre class performances?

Oh my goodness, if you only knew the journey these kids went on in class to get to this point ... it would make you even more proud!!!

Ok so, storytime.

This class had 12 kids in it in Term 1, and we had powered through and learnt so much - their routines were more than 50% complete! 💪
They had learned complex choreography, positions, canons, the whole works! Amazing!

Then, due to various unforeseen circumstances, 6 of the kids could either not continue in Term 2 or couldn't do the performance.

Which meant - these six superstars you're looking at right now, had to RE-LEARN everything they'd done in Term 1. 🥺

We had to re-block positions, change canons, and fix it all up so it looked as if it was always designed for a group of six dancers.

But.... I truly cannot emphasise just how complex this is for a 6yr old brain. 🤯
Older and more advanced dancers can cope with changes like this, but young dancers rely heavily on repetition and muscle memory to learn choreography and build confidence with it.

And then.... I asked them to change everything they'd learnt. 🫠

I knew what a challenge it would be for them, but I also knew these kids are clever enough that I could get work hard with them to make it happen.

Well.

Fast forward to the end of Term 2, not only had they completely nailed their routines, they were even at the point of working on performance faces in class!

I was completely and utterly gobsmacked by how much they had learned, how resilient they were, how hard they had worked, and how they were still hungry for MORE. 😱

When I say I could not be prouder...
I truly mean it.

Dancers, you all blew me away last semester.
You achieved what I thought might be impossible.
Two epic routines, executed with such energy and precision and the hugest smiles on your faces.
I am your biggest fan. Forever and ever.
