At the end of the day, no one else can put in the work for you.
No one can do your repetitions. No one can push through the hard days for you. No one can develop your technique, discipline or mindset except you.
Karate gives you the guidance, the teachers and the people beside you. But your progress will always reflect the effort you're willing to put in.
The more you put in, the more you get out.
Your development is personal. Your journey is your own.
So sometimes, you just need to show up... and work on yourself, by yourself, for yourself. 👊🥋

I’ve trained with many coaches, but nothing compares to training with your parent and making memories together. That’s one of the things I love most about karate, it’s a sport where parents and kids can train side by side, connect, and build lasting bonds.

We’ve been missing Shihan Glenn, he’s been training with World Kata Champion Kakeru Nishiyama in 🇨🇦 Canada! Cannot wait to see what skills he brings back to class.
My son is probably going to kill me for posting this 😂 But many moons ago, he competed in karate tournaments himself. As you can see, the nerves were definitely there… but he pushed through and came out on top. 🥋🏆
From the outside, karate competitions can look simple, but once you’re in the middle of it all, it’s a completely different story. Every opponent moves differently, reacts differently, and brings their own style. That’s why we train with a variety of sparring partners — because no two people are ever the same.
The experience, confidence, and resilience built through competition is something that stays with you for life. 👊

Starting kids young in karate is something I truly believe in. I began my own journey at a young age, and it’s been an incredible path ever since.
This photo is a special one little lily leveling up from white belt to orange belt. So proud of her dedication, growth, and courage. This is just the beginning of her journey 🥋✨

As Shihan Kylie continues her recovery, we’re very fortunate to have tonight’s Monday session led by 7th Dan Shihan Michael Patrick.
An incredible opportunity to train under such experience and knowledge, we look forward to seeing everyone there 👊
Hi everyone, just a quick announcement that tonight’s karate class is cancelled. Apologies for the short notice; Kylie is unwell and I couldn’t find a cover instructor. Thanks for your understanding.

Honored to have officially received my 5th Dan certificate from the Japan Karate Federation. 🥋
For those who may not know, this grading is different from style-specific rankings. While my Goju-ryu Seiwakai rank reflects my progression within that traditional system, the Japan Karate Federation gojukai grade is a more widely respected standard across multiple karate styles, with an emphasis on unified technical and competition criteria.
This milestone reflects years of training, discipline, and guidance from my teachers and training partners. Grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way.
The journey continues—always learning, always improving.
