Looking back at life and the struggles I've faced in life, it's surreal to believe I made it even in the times where I nearly gave up on life and everything in it.
5 years ago I was in my car parked on the Swan River in Ascot with my youngest, talking to a friend on the phone, while the big boys were at home with support workers. At this time I'd been dealing with a high stress load of parenting additional needs children where I had been calling the cops daily at this stage for both boys, one ended up in Banksia for a week after a last resort as we had been handballed between agencies who had said "this is bad behaviour", "this is disability" "there's nothing that we can do for you" all while parenting a toddler.
While sitting in my car, park brake on and engine running, facing the waters edge and talking to my friend....my inner dark thoughts I had inside slipped out casually in conversation..."I just want to let go of this park brake and drive into the river". She said, "Nahhhh you don't want to do that girl" and I burst out into tears realising what I'd shared, it's like I felt I was somewhere else and not really fully aware of what I'd shared. Then the reality of the situation kicked in as I looked back at my toddler fast asleep in his car seat in the back and my heart broke even more as I cried uncontrollably.
To this day if I'd NOT been on that phonecall how different life for my children could be along with those that would be left behind is something that I carry with me daily.
So when it comes to mental health in my house and to the people who I meet I speak openly about it as like any muscle in our body, our brain muscle is just as if not MORE important than our physique muscles, strengthening our mind within to help us bounce back, become more resilient, walk through life not just with strength but also courage to know that through life's hurdles it IS possible to overcome them, it IS possible to overcome the darkness within, to overcome the devil of destruction trying to consume your whole world and inturn you.
It IS possible, CHOOSE LIFE...
To those reading know that you are valued, you are loved, you are whole and you are enough who you are now

Suicide....a trail of destruction left behind for those who forever grieve the pain of a loved one gone too soon....the grief of not just the entire human being, it's the loss of their soul...their warmth...their light...their fight...their woes and foes...everything that makes that person unique from another.

Leaving me re-evaluating what's important in life and truly making the time for things that really do.

Turning back the hands of time is something we as humans have not got the privilege of, the only privilege we have is TIME.

Utilising our time is the most precious asset we have as once that time is gone we can never get it back. The lack of managing our time we have later turns into regret and the regret one feels is a lifelong sentence eating away silently within.

The only way of easing that pain is to lessen the burden of regret with utilising ones time effectively in making time for truly important things in life.

Life is precious, it's oh so important and so many priceless opportunities in life that don't cost money.

Quality time with loved ones...human connection...kindness...empathy...compassion...an open heart...gratitude...watching sunrises and sunsets...spending time in nature...or simply paying somebody a compliment, it's free 🌻

What's one thing you will do today to start finding the priceless opportunities of life before regret and pain is all you have?

Gosh what a mix bag of emotions for the day today! My eyes awakened with a morning call saying "Hi hun, I just wanted to let you know I saw your boy, he's walking down ~this road~ heading towards ~this shop~ and he's wearing just shorts, I couldn't stop as it was peak hour traffic and there were cars behind me, but I wanted to let you know" So grateful for that call as I was oblivious he was even gone 😂 So then his brothers were awakened by me saying "boys your brother's gone, quick we've got to go let's go" meanwhile the support worker arrives for his shift at 730am to "Hi Sam, James is gone and he's on this street heading towards this shop and I couldn't find my car keys so we all jumped in the support workers car and left. James had exited the back door as it was left unlocked the night before (I'm so sure it was locked) he had put a chair on the side gate and scaled the fence, despite there being a boganvilia tree 🙈 730am-930am arrival home after Jonah and I had to ride with the cops home as James was very aggressive and threatening towards myself and Jonah. Joseph went in the car with the support worker and James and he'd copped a beating from James as they arrived closer to home, I was then gone until 2ish this afternoon, arrive home James is still super mean and awful to me as he was this morning when we found him. My heart aching at the sheer attacks that have come out of nowhere as yesterday everything was fine. I go to work & come back at 730pm to James apologising & a home cooked meal that he prepared with the support worker, telling me to "enjoy mum" with a warm embrace which helps to calm the ache within my heart from the days events 🥲 Then sewing duties to sew a button on Joseph's pants & Jonah's state t-ball hat so it fits him perfectly & as the Velcro won't pull his hair out over the weekend.
Although tomorrow is another day, I am grateful for today even with its ups & downs as it makes me appreciate everything so much more. Knowing the tough times don't last & help me muster through the next hurdle of life, in creating a more resilient me to life's journey ❤️

Big day today! From AFL pre season training for the big boys, then straight after that had finished it was t-ball for the youngest. Lastly to finish off the day we had baseball in the afternoon for middle son.
It honestly is such a great thing to witness, all my boys thrive within their physical activities ☀️🏉⚾
How much it's helped them grow as individuals, working as a team and how it's helped adapt to change as they grow up and its given them a sense of purpose to look forward to each season between AFL, baseball, t-ball, machine pitch, football (soccer), swimming and scouts, there's not much room for anything else despite the want of more activities from the youngest 😂🙈

The last week starting Tuesday at the Youth Hub before we are closed for 2weeks, so come on down and say hi.
You can heat up a feed from the feeezer, have some fruit, muesli bars, chickpea choc chip slice, play some games or help me with assembling the current puzzle I’m working on there.
If you’re needing support services for food/clothing, mental health, DV etc, please talk to one of our mentors and we can help point you in the right direction of where to go.
Christmas isn’t a happy experience for all and there’s no shame in that, the more raw we are with others when we show no judgement, the easier the experience for individuals experiencing hardship 🙏🏾

Tis the season! Swans Youth Hub opening schedule for December, with a special Xmas Gifts afternoon on Dec 19. Come down and create a unique gift for your fam!
