WA States wrapped 🔴⚫️

A fantastic championship campaign from the City of Perth Swimming Club athletes:

🏊‍♂️ 12 athletes raced
⏱️ 48 completed swims
🔥 31 PBs
📈 64.6% PB rate
⏬ 89.68 seconds dropped
🥇 8 gold
🥈 10 silver
🥉 2 bronze
🌍 7 reported record performances

Kate Wallington completed an outstanding campaign with eight PBs from eight swims and six medals—three gold, two silver and one bronze.

Kate also produced seven reported Virtus II3 world-record performances across six events. These performances remain pending formal Virtus ratification.

A brilliant weekend from the City team and everyone who supported them.

A particularly special congratulations goes to Elke Lee, who claimed the first State Championships medals of her career in the multiclass 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke. An exciting milestone for one of our emerging athletes! 👏

What an incredible opening night for City of Perth at the 2026 Hancock Prospecting Western Australian Age & Open Short Course Championships!

🥈 Kate Wallington claimed silver in the able bodied Open 1500m freestyle as well as setting some record breaking splits:
🌏 Four Virtus world records— 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle
💚🫶Two Australian S19 records — 800m and 1500m freestyle

🥇 Joshua Hofer OAM powered to gold in the 400m freestyle, smashing an outstanding 8.92 seconds from his entry time!

Two medals, six records and a brilliant start to the championships. Congratulations, Kate and Joshua! ❤️🖤

A huge congratulations to Mikey Carlos who was named junior swimmer of the month for July 2026!

On Saturday, May 23, Swimming WA hosted the 2026 National Championships Awards hosted by New Town Toyota, recognising the incredible achievements of WA's athletes on the national stage. 🏊‍♂️

Kate delivered an outstanding Nationals campaign which culminated in being a top 3 finalist for the Hancock Prospecting Perpetual Trophy.

Beyond her performances in the pool, and setting multiple Swimming Australia and Virtus World records, Kate continues to lead by example through her dedication to the sport, support of her teammates, and encouragement of younger swimmers within our club.

From early mornings on pool deck to behind-the-scenes organising, timing, fundraising, team managing and everything in between - our club simply wouldn’t exist without you.
