SportWest is pleased to release the findings of the inaugural Parent Perspectives Survey, delivered in partnership with the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport and The University of Western Australia.
The report captures a snapshot of the factors influencing family participation, revealing what matters most to parents and carers as they support their children’s sport experience. As the key enablers of junior sport participation, parents play a critical role beyond financial and logistical support, navigating the emotional highs and lows of the sporting journey alongside their children.
The findings provide the sector with fresh insights to inform decision-making, celebrate what is working well, and continue to evolve the experience of sport across Western Australia.

We’re investing a further $560,000 into empowering sporting clubs to be a driving force for change in road safety behaviour. 🏀🚘
By expanding the successful partnership with the State's top sporting body, SportWest – the Cook Labor Government is ensuring road safety education can continue to be delivered within the sporting community to help make WA a safer place.
Sporting events provide an opportunity for priority audiences including young people to engage with positive and prevention-focused road safety messaging where community connection and role modelling are already strong. 💪

We’re excited to continue our road safety journey with the Road Safety Commission Western Australia, thanks to an expanded investment from the Cook Government that will see our Best on Road program reach even more communities across Western Australia.
With more than 700,000 participants connected through SportWest’s network, sport provides a unique platform to promote positive road safety behaviours, leadership and community responsibility.
The additional $560,000 investment will help us expand community-based road safety education at major sporting events across WA, while continuing initiatives such as the Captain’s Club, Ambassador Program, Club Rewards Program and Best on Road Award.
Together, we’re working to create a culture where being the best on the field means being the best on the road.
