Not the result I was hoping for, but I put myself out there, balancing the roles of both athlete and coach.

I was leading 7–1 before making a couple of crucial mistakes that completely changed the scoreboard. That's competition, and sometimes those moments become your biggest lessons.

International competition never comes without its challenges. I'm proud that I pushed through the adversity, endured a brutal weight cut to 70.30 kg, and came away with valuable experience and knowledge that I can now pass on to my team.

Just 8½ months after ACL surgery, I was back representing Australia on the international stage. This also marks the third different combat sport I've had the honour of representing my country in.

I've always believed that the more competitive you remain physically, the younger you feel. At 39 years old, I feel as motivated and capable as ever.
