I got over 200 reactions on one of my posts last week! Thanks everyone for your support! 🎉 That would have been the Quenda!

The bushland is home to a wealth of native flora and fauna species.
We are a group based around Victoria Park and South Perth dedicated to the preservation of Jirdarup Bushland Precinct (Kensington Bushland, George St Reserve and Kent St Sandpit) and the promotion of its importance in the community. W**d or treasure?
This is why our new weeders get an induction and an experienced person to work with.
How many people can ID it?

More reports from people who saw quenda but this is the only additional photo we have, 8 July - from the Paul Rushton family again. Seems you have to be eagle eyed and quick on the camera trigger.
Good luck

Remember the $10,000 promised by the State Government prior to the last election? In case you missed the news, we are using this to get to do a Condition Report of the Kensington Bushland over 2026. An off-shoot of this is a Field Herbarium that started to take shape recently. Skills required: careful handling of specimens, neat writing, cutting and sticking, patience, ability to follow instructions. Only about 130 to go!

W**ders on Saturday found lots of signs of Quenda digging across the bushland - but no Quenda. You can see some fresh digging from the paths. But this is Paul Rushton 's Quenda, we didn't see one of them ... yet!

Yes, we definitely have quenda in Kensington Bushland, visible from the paths. Local resident Paul Rushton got some great shots on 2 July. There have been several reported sightings over the last few weeks but the award for the first photo goes to Paul. Thank you Paul for sharing.
Get a bit more detail and a link to the video in our recent newsletter.

Eek! No, it's not a snake, it’s a Burton’s Legless Lizard (Lialis burtonis). This 50cm beauty was found by Jirdarup weeder Wendy, snoozing under a pile of leaf litter.
Legless lizards lack forelegs and have only elementary hind legs. They have a distinctive long snout and eat mainly small reptiles. Using their flexible jaw, they wrap around their victim, suffocating it and then eating the head first!! Charming.
