We wrapped up our final men’s group for 2025 on the 13th of December — and what a year it’s been.

We’ve now been running for over 12 months, and these are my three biggest takeaways from the year:

We all wear masks.
Every man does. What matters is having a space where those masks can safely come off, without judgement or pressure to perform.

You’re not alone.
So many of the struggles men carry feel deeply personal — until they’re spoken out loud. Sharing reminds us how human, and how similar, our experiences really are.

Perspective changes everything.
It’s easy to get stuck in what’s hard. Naming it allows us to zoom out, gain clarity, and see ourselves and our lives more clearly.

I’m grateful for the honesty, courage, and trust that showed up in the room this year.

Looking ahead to 2026 with a lot of respect for this work and the men who step into it.

#2025

Perspective:

The big theme from this session was perspective. When we stripped back the day-to-day noise, it was clear that we’re all living with a lot of privilege — yet it’s still so easy to get caught up in the small stuff and lose sight of the bigger picture.

The antidote? Acknowledging that our challenges are still real and valid, even if they seem small compared to someone else’s, and remembering to zoom out occasionally, so we don’t get stuck in the weeds.

Big thanks to the blokes who showed up and shared openly. Can't wait for the next one!

Fremantle's loss got you down? Don't worry, Ferndale Men's Group won't judge you for still being salty about it in 2 weeks. Next session is on the 20th of September.

Yesterday’s session was one of the most powerful we’ve ever had. The guys dug deep, working through long-held childhood wounds with honesty and courage.

This week’s question - What scripts are on repeat in your mind? That question revealed some of the masks we wear every day:

The laid-back bloke who “doesn’t mind” but deep down never feels heard.

The calm, collected man quietly battling a tidal wave of anxiety.

The outgoing, friendly guy who wonders if people would still want him around if they really knew him.

Instead of sharing a photo of the men, I chose a picture of the talking stick we use each week. One end is carved into a fist, the other into an open palm: A reminder of the dichotomy of life and this session, that symbol felt truer than ever.

Grateful for these men who show up, go deep, and share courageously. I cannot wait for the next session. If you missed this session, fear not: The next session is the 20th of September.
