The staff member answering calls 7 days a week.
The parents and players who bring our clubs to life.
The committee members working after hours.
The Board members giving their time to help lead our sport forward.

Community sport runs on passionate people who care enough to keep showing up.

None of us gets everything right, but all of us deserve to feel safe, heard, valued and respected.

We will not always agree and we do not need to.

Respect does not require agreement. It simply asks us to remember that there is a person on the other side.

Ask questions. Offer feedback. Raise genuine concerns. Those voices matter.

But abuse, intimidation and personal attacks have no place in our sport.

One of our most important shared responsibilities is to look after the people who give so much to table tennis in WA. That is why we put forward TTWA’s “A Shared Commitment to Respect” memo.

We will always stand up for the interests of table tennis in WA and for the people who make our sport possible.

We are deeply grateful that 15 clubs and associations across WA have endorsed the memo. Their collective support sends a clear and united message from across the table tennis community in our great state of WA.

Together, we stand for respect. We stand against abuse. And we share one simple commitment … to look after one another. 🖤💛

🏓 WORLD CLASS COACH LI CHAO CHOOSES WESTERN AUSTRALIA

This is a very special moment for our entire TTWA community.

Table Tennis Western Australia is proud and delighted to announce one of the most significant high performance appointments in our almost 90-year history.

LI CHAO
TTWA High Performance Director and Head Coach

An ITTF High Performance Coach, Li brings exceptional international experience. He has served as National Coach for England, Scotland, Wales and the UAE, with extensive coaching experience across the United Kingdom, UAE, Chinese Taipei and Malaysia.

Li has developed dozens of coaches around the world and also coached many world ranked players, including Tokyo 2020 Olympic mixed doubles gold medallist Jun Mizutani, 4-time Olympian and former world No. 12 Liam Pitchford, and 3-time Olympian and 3-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Paul Drinkhall.

A British national with an outstanding track record in the field, Li was granted Global Talent permanent residence visa in Australia last year.

A coach of Li’s calibre is highly sought after by national federations around the world. His decision to make Western Australia home with his family is an extraordinary vote of confidence in our players, coaches, clubs and the potential of our entire table tennis community.

We are equally delighted that the exceptional lifestyle offered by our great state has helped make Western Australia the right home for Li and his family.

Li’s first official assignment will be leading the WA Junior State Teams at the 2026 Juniors National Championships, commencing in late September. Following the Championships, he will relocate to Perth in late 2026 and begin an exciting new chapter with our community.

Western Australia’s geographic distance has historically made access to national DTE and high-performance support extremely limited and challenging for our athletes and coaches. TTWA is therefore taking a thoughtful, responsible and long term approach to building world class capability here at home.

Li’s relocation is a direct and practical step towards that goal. His expertise will be embedded here in WA… inside our halls, alongside our coaches and connected to the people who make our clubs and association so special.

The benefits of this appointment will extend across our entire performance pathway. Li will help inspire developing athletes, support and develop our local coaches, strengthen our State Teams and create better opportunities from grassroots through to national and international performance.

This appointment is designed to deliver strong medium and long-term high-performance outcomes while building lasting local capability. The benefits will be shared across our athletes, coaches, clubs, families and wider TTWA membership.

Congratulations to Akira Ting-Chia Chang, who has secured TTA’s nomination for Dakar 2026, subject to formal selection by the Australian Olympic Committee. 🇦🇺

This is more than an extraordinary individual achievement. It is a landmark moment for WA and proof to every young player across our state that the world stage is within reach.

Behind this moment are years of discipline, sacrifice, family support, dedicated coaching and a community that believed.

This September, more than 5,000 university athletes will descend on Perth for the 2026 UniSport Nationals, competing across 30 sports.

TTWA will manage and deliver the 5 day table tennis competition, featuring men’s and women’s university teams from across Australia.

Fremantle club has been busy welcoming new players, with around 30 newcomers coming through its beginner sessions in just the past few weeks. That’s some fantastic energy at Freo! 🙌

A huge shout out to Gordon Lee, who has been doing a wonderful job running the sessions and making everyone feel welcome.
