As we reflect on the 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, we honour the strength, resilience, culture and legacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We thank Dreamtime Warriors for the incredible work they continue to do through rugby league, creating opportunities, strengthening communities and inspiring future generations.

This NAIDOC Week, Gur Wirimalpa Dreamtime Warriors proudly celebrates the 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly.

For us, this theme speaks to the strength, resilience, excellence and pride of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across generations. It honours our Elders, our families, our community leaders, our players, coaches, volunteers and all those who paved the way before us whilst celebrating the legacy we hope to leave into the future.

Through rugby league and community sport, we create spaces where culture is visible, family is strengthened, young people are encouraged, and future leaders are built. Our mission has always been about building strong individuals, strong families and strong communities through culture, sport and opportunity.

We are deeply grateful to our community, sponsors and allies who continue to walk alongside us and support our vision. Your belief in Dreamtime Warriors helps create opportunities for our young people, including regional and remote players who may not otherwise have access to these experiences. Your support helps us build confidence, belonging, pride and legacy (true to our values!)

It is also powerful to see people from all backgrounds wanting to be part of our teams, to learn, to stand with us, and to be immersed in culture, proudly wearing our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags with respect. True Allyship!

Many of our rugby league kainga will know Saula Fifita — a proud member of the original WA Tonga Rugby League team, a premiership winner in Kalamunda’s first-ever championship side, an ex-Junior Kiwi, and affectionately known to us all as the “Tongan Prince” 🇹🇴👑

Saula has always represented our community with pride, humility and strength. Right now, he and his family need the support of the rugby league community as he focuses on recovering from surgery.
