If you give your child a gokart, they will want to drive. You’ll buy them the best kart you can find, followed by a helmet and race suit.
You look for local tracks to drive at weekends, where you start to socialise with the karting community... Then life as you know it, will end.
Before you know it, they want to RACE so you find a CLUB…..There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible.
Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling campers, caravans and karts and enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the race.
Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you gave your child a go kart. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, learning new skills and having fun and getting out there.
You will be there the day he or she makes there first holeshot , first podium, first win. And they will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you on the track, it’s your child. It's everything that they did, they achieved. And right before your eyes, your little boy/girl will be transformed from the baby who spun around on their junior kart into an expert.
When you give your child a go kart, you give them more than just something to drive. You give them a sport, a talent, hopes and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave your child a kart.
Because you gave your child a kart, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have a gokart family because you gave your child a go kart.
Then one day, many years from today…they will be in their room and a certain trophy will catch their eye. And they will pick it up and realise instantly that when you gave your child a kart, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget, at this point, you realise that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it…..
All because you gave your child a go kart 🏆

My take on it: Reading this brought back so many amazing memories, it actually almost brought a tear to the eye! It captures so much of my early story through karting with my Dad. I was just lucky that someone had some faith in me, I wasn't completely useless behind the wheel and I got half an opportunity to take my career further.... 🏎 💨 🏁

Race week AKC Round 2

WA Series R2 Esperance 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆

Clean sweep in Cadet 9, KA3J Heavy, KA3 Senior and TaG R Light. 1-2-3 in KA3J Heavy and 1-2 in KA3 Senior. Well done to all Flatout customers and thank you for your loyalty! Well done .c_42 and Mark Hurn on their maiden wins. Congratulation’s and on the familiar top step 🏆

West, East, South or North we deliver HP to put you on the podium. Time to reassemble this lease engine after coming third at Vic states from last on the grid with a crash in qualifying! 💨

AKC Round 1

KZ - Preston went fastest by 2 tenths in a few heats, a brake problem in the final hurt his start of race pace and ultimately lead to an error putting us out of the race passing for second place. Charlotte made constant improvement across the weekend finishing P12 in the final.

KA2 - Up and down weekend. Both Harvey and Connor showed promising pace. P5 in the final for Harvey while we had pace to fight for the podium if the heats went a little better. P19 for Connor after some misfortune throughout the heats that doesn’t reflect his speed

TaG - Good heat race pace for Sparkes scoring consistently in the top 7. Rossi struggled with some driving standards in the mid pack. Some rough driving in mid field put the boys back in the final coming home P22 and P25, not a good reflection of the pace we had throughout the weekend.

KA3J - After being top 5 all of Thursday and Friday, Kalbfell lost all pace once we put tyres on for qualifying. We changed everything and it didn’t change our pace at all, after using 3 sets of tyres in practise and being fast in all conditions, we can only put our lost pace down to something out of our control. P31 in the final.

Mini - Both Benji (C12) and Mason (C9) had their AKC debut. Benji having an awesome run through Qually and heats to put him self in the top 15, a good drive in the final finished him P12. Mason showed awesome pace all weekend, lots to learn with race craft, but a solid P13 for his first AKC event.

We have a fast team this year and should be fighting for podiums in all classes. The season has just started, we will come back bigger and stronger at round 2 💪🏽
