For those across the surfing community who would like to join in remembering and celebrating the life of Surfing WA CEO Mark Lane, his funeral service will be livestreamed tomorrow.

The service will commence at 2:45pm on Friday, 28 August.

Following the service, the wake will be a private gathering for Mark’s close friends and family only. For those who would like to come together to celebrate Mark’s life, we’ll be holding a paddle out at Scarborough Beach at 8:00am on Saturday morning.

We know how much Mark meant to so many people across WA and beyond, and hope this provides an opportunity to tune in, pay respects and celebrate a life that had such an incredible impact on our surfing community.

After 10x qualifying events with 29x regional and metro high schools competing across Western Australia, the Think Mental Health WA School Surfing Titles State Final will see our best surfing schools hit Trigg Beach tomorrow to decide who is the best in the west!

WA’s Ebony Schell has claimed her fifth consecutive Open Women’s Australian Title at the 2026 Australian Bodyboard Titles in Newcastle.

Ebony continued her incredible run on the national stage, taking out the final with a 13.43 heat total to secure another Australian crown.

A huge result and another title heading back to WA. Congratulations Ebony!

PADDLE OUT FOR MARK LANE
 
This Saturday, August 29, we’ll come together at Scarborough Beach to celebrate the life of our CEO, colleague, mentor and friend, Mark “Laney” Lane after his recent passing.
 
Laney’s family, friends and the surfing community are invited to gather at Sunset Hill from 8am, before paddling out together in his memory.
 
Laney dedicated more than two decades to surfing, with his contribution and influence felt across WA, Australia and around the world. His passion, leadership and genuine care for the sport and its people will leave a lasting legacy.
 
Our love, thoughts and deepest condolences are with Mark’s family, loved ones and friends.
