Kardas spirit on the national stage π€πβ€οΈ
The 2026 UniSport Indigenous Nationals has wrapped up in Newcastle, with the Curtin Kardas proudly representing Curtin on Awabakal and Worimi Country for the 30th anniversary of the Games.
Across four days of competition, the Kardas took on basketball, netball, touch rugby and volleyball, showing determination, teamwork and pride from the first whistle to the final point.
Highlights included a dominant 30β12 win in basketball, a huge 30β4 netball victory, Blake Tapper scoring the Kardasβ first try in touch, and the team finishing strong with back-to-back volleyball wins.
More than the results, the week was about connection, culture and community, with the Kardas earning respect from teams across the country and proudly carrying Curtin spirit throughout the competition.
A special congratulations to the Wollotuka Institute from the University of Newcastle, who were crowned the 2026 overall champions for a third year in a row.
Thank you to the Awabakal and Worimi people for welcoming us to Country, to our athletes and staff for representing Curtin with pride, and to MinRes and ID Athletic for their support of the Curtin Kardas.
Go Kardas! π€πβ€οΈ
