Kaya Families,

๐Ÿ‰ Sport Wrap-Up: AFL
Over the past few weeks, the children have had a fantastic time developing their AFL skills through a variety of fun, active, and engaging games.
The children learned the basic fundamentals of AFL, including how to handball and kick the football. Through guided practice and skill-based activities, they developed their hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, balance, and confidence while learning the correct techniques.
A favourite activity was practising kicking the football through cones to score a goal. This challenge encouraged the children to improve their aim, control, and coordination while celebrating their successes and cheering on their peers. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they refined their kicking skills.

The children also enjoyed playing "The Floor is Lava!", an exciting game that encouraged movement, balance, agility, and problem-solving. As they navigated the course without touching the "lava," they worked together, followed instructions, and built confidence through active play.
Throughout the AFL program, the children demonstrated persistence, resilience, and teamwork as they practised new skills and embraced each challenge with enthusiasm. It has been wonderful to see them develop their coordination, confidence, and understanding of the game while staying active and having fun.

Kaya Families,

๐ŸŽพ Sport Wrap-Up: Tennis

Over the past few weeks, the children have had a fantastic time developing their tennis skills through a variety of fun and engaging games and activities.

The children practised balancing a tennis ball on their racquet, helping to strengthen their balance, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control. As their confidence grew, many challenged themselves to move while keeping the ball balanced, demonstrating persistence and resilience.

One of the children's favourite games was "What's the Time, Mr Wolf?", where they combined tennis skills with movement, listening, and quick decision-making. This game encouraged active participation while developing agility, spatial awareness, and the ability to follow instructions.

Another highlight was the very silly Bucket Game, where all the tennis balls were tipped out for the children to collect and return. This energetic activity promoted teamwork, cooperation, communication, and problem-solving, while also providing plenty of opportunities to practise throwing, collecting, and controlling the tennis balls.

Throughout the program, the children also explored the basic fundamentals of tennis, including holding a racquet, controlling the ball, and practising simple forehand and backhand movements through fun games and challenges.

It has been wonderful to see the children's confidence, coordination, and resilience grow as they embraced new skills and encouraged one another. Most importantly, they had lots of fun staying active, building friendships, and developing a positive attitude towards sport and physical activity.

The physical literacy elements that were focused on this week were Stability & Balance, Reaction time, Coordination, Motor skills, Self-regulation, Confidence, Engagement & enjoyment.

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at our 'TAG Sports & Sprinkles' Vacation Care incursion! ๐Ÿ€โšฝ๐Ÿงโœจ

We started the morning by getting our bodies moving with a group warm-up, including stretches, jogging and sprints to prepare us for an action-packed day. Our awesome coach, Tom, then led an exciting basketball session where everyone had the chance to practice their dribbling, passing, shooting and coordination while building confidence and, most importantly, having lots of fun!

After working up an appetite, we enjoyed lunch before getting creative with some colourful cupcake decorating. ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŒˆ

The afternoon was full of energy as we took to the field for a big game of soccer, where we demonstrated fantastic teamwork, communication and ball skills. We then worked together to create and complete our own obstacle course, challenging ourselves through problem-solving, creativity, balance and perseverance.

It was wonderful to see our children encouraging one another, showing kindness and respect, and celebrating each other's successes throughout the day. We displayed great sportsmanship, resilience, cooperation and determination, with everyone giving each activity their best effort and stepping outside their comfort zones to try something new! ๐ŸŒŸ
