That’s a wrap on Day 2 - and officially on the 2026 WA Aquatic & Recreation Conference!

Jelena Dokic opened the day with a powerful story of resilience, courage and finding strength through adversity. Julian Pace brought an honest and practical conversation about mental health and happiness, before Mick Colliss closed the conference with plenty of laughs - and a brilliant reminder of what teamwork, persistence and a slightly ambitious idea can achieve.

Across the streams, delegates tackled everything from inclusive swim schools and safer operations to community planning, AI, emerging sports and the future of our industry. Once again, plenty of the learning happened between sessions too through shared experiences, new connections and those “quick chats” that somehow lasted the entire break.

We also crowned more Trade Passport champions and saw lucky delegates collect some fantastic prizes from our exhibitors. Apparently, professional development can come with excellent loot.

The conference may be finished, but we’re not done celebrating yet. Tonight, we swap the conference lanyards for something a little fancier at the 2026 WA Aquatic & Recreation Industry Awards Dinner!

Day 1 is done and it was a FULL one!

Internationally recognised trend forecaster Michael McQueen kicked things off with a thought-provoking look at innovation, leadership and staying ahead of rapid change.

Lynnette Chng and Poh Leong Yee from Sport Singapore brought an international perspective on creating active communities and places that encourage participation, before former Fremantle Docker, lawyer and coach Peter Bell wrapped up the day with lessons in leadership, teamwork and performance.

Across every stream, delegates collected practical ideas and fresh perspectives to take back to their teams. But as anyone in aquatics and recreation knows, some of the best learning also happens in between, over coffee or during a “quick catch-up” that's long overdue.

Old friends and former colleagues reunited, new connections were made and plenty of ideas were generously shared, it’s what this close-knit industry does best.

Three lucky delegates also finished the day as Trade Passport winners, proving that chatting your way around the trade show can be both professionally and personally rewarding.
