Congratulations and well done to Ranjodh Singh Virk our student of the month for July.
Ranjodh has never given up, is and always willing to take advice on areas that he needs to improve on, which makes him a worthy award winner .

2026 State Championships done and dusted, we entered a small team of 9 fighters and walked away with 5 Gold medal ( could have won 2 more golds ,but our fighters froze and did not deliver) lesson learnt.

No sooner than we finish with a massive 2 day championship and our team was off to another one, the very next day.

The 9th Gewinn Malaysian Open Championship 2026, this was an unusual competition, as it was held in a shopping centre in Klang.
We did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprise with the standard of fighters and numbers of top athletes that attended (1,000 plus fighters in one day.) 6 rings were set up and the competition ran smoothly, with the opportunity to shop ,eat and get a foot massage while you were waiting between fights.

Each of our members had more than 10 fighters in their divisions, which means at least 3 win to make the finals.
Learning quickly from their last competition, our members rose to the occasions and establish themselves as the team to beat, even having the locals cheering Aussie, Aussie😆.. for our team Rawlins.

Well done to my students for rising up and meeting the challenge I gave them, it is very hard to compete in a back to back Taekwondo championship, overcoming the injuries and bruises, and mentally prepare your body and mind to do it all over again.

I am so proud of each and everyone of you, you are the foundation that i will build my next group of champions from .

I would also like to say a huge thank you to our team manager Irosh, who worked tirelessly running around and getting all the fight numbers and making sure everyone was ready at their rings .

Without the two of you by my side and helping out in every way possible,there is no way i could have managed and got through these 2 championships.

What an amazing weekend of Taekwondo competition in Malaysia, the first was the 13th Speed Power International Championship, which is increasing in strength and talent, with over 4.000 athletes competing over the 3 day event.
The stadium was packed with athletes and spectators, lucky the organizer had some space put aside for visiting International Teams.
Each one of our fighters had to win 5 bouts to even qualify for the Gold medal, most of them got 2 or 3 hard fights before losing to better opponents.
Australian fighting spirit was on full display as we won over the crowd, with some of them cheering.
Our stand out fighter was Setmi who won all her 4 fights and took out the Gold medal in her division.
Those who watched the line streaming of the fights would have enjoyed every minute of them ( thanks for your comments and support )
