Confidence in karate starts with small steps: learning a stance, practising a technique, trying again after mistakes.
That same confidence can help young people stand tall when faced with bullying.
Karate teaches students to believe in themselves, use their voice and know they are not alone. 🙌

Good luck to Nikolina Pushnick as she represents Australia at the 2026 Thailand Open in Bangkok!
Nikolina will take to the tatami on 15 August, competing in the Junior Kumite division.
A fantastic opportunity to compete on the international stage and gain valuable experience. We’re incredibly proud.
Good luck Nikolina — enjoy the experience and leave it all on the tatami! 👊🔥

🥋 What to look for in a Martial Arts School?
Don't just look at the style—look at the people teaching it.
Ask:
• What is the instructor's background?
• Who did they train under?
• What qualifications and affiliations do they have?
• What values does the club promote?
A great martial arts school develops more than physical skills. It should also build confidence, respect, humility, and self-discipline.
At Shobukan Martial Arts, our instructors are accredited with Karate Australia, our club is affiliated with the World Karate Federation, and our Life Skills Program helps students develop strong character alongside practical self-defence skills.

So often a child experiences bullying at shcool and when asked why they didn't take action to protect themselves they say "I didn't want to get in trouble". 😥
Kids often get told "don't ever hit" or "just move away", then if they experience a more serious situation they dont know when to act. 😬
Children need to know the steps they can take for self defence. When its appropriate to move away, to block or to strike. 🦸♀️🥋
