🌊 Club Social Paddle – Big Lagoon Adventure!

While Perth shivers through winter, a lucky group of AKC paddlers teamed up with Sea Kayak Club WA to enjoy warm northern WA conditions at the stunning Big Lagoon in Francois Peron National Park.

Over three days, they paddled through turquoise waters, winding mangrove mazes, and along striking red cliffs and white sand beaches. Wildlife highlights included turtles, rays, fish and abundant birdlife in this incredible UNESCO World Heritage setting.

A huge thank you to Robyn Khorshid for organising such a fantastic trip! 👏

An unforgettable adventure filled with colour, exploration and great company on the water 🚣‍♀️

A big shout-out to Ben Pope for his recent efforts representing Australia in canoe slalom.

Ben has been racing in Men’s K1 across the opening rounds of the 2026 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup season in Europe, taking on some of the world’s best paddlers.

Fantastic effort, Ben — we’re proud to see a WA paddler and Ascot Kayak Club member representing Australia on the world stage and we’ll be cheering you on as your international season continues.
