In a HUGE first for the club, our Colts and Premier Men’s teams have reached the Semi-Finals.
This is a massive achievement - a huge congratulations to all the players, coaches, managers and medic staff for your hard work to get to this stage – just brilliant!

All at Southern Lions wishes you the very best in your games on Saturday at Cottesloe rugby club (12pm and 340pm).
Our Juniors continue to excel, and we wish the best of luck to our U14s and U15s in your games on Saturday at Kalamunda rugby club (940am and 950am).

We came into this season with expectations, goals and a purpose. From the beginning, we made a commitment to each other — our goal is to win the Under 14s title. Now, as we head into the semi-finals, we are well on our way
We came into this season with expectations, goals and a purpose. From the beginning, we made a commitment to each other — our goal is to win the Under 14s title. Now, as we head into the semi-finals, we are well on our way.

But getting here has been about much more than winning games.

First, we worked on belief. Belief in ourselves, belief in our teammates and belief in what we are capable of achieving together. We learnt that belief doesn’t just come from talking — it comes from doing the work. Paying attention to the small details. Asking for feedback. Taking advice. Working on our movements, our skills and our combinations. Doing things over and over again until they became part of us, so when game day arrived, we could trust ourselves to execute our game plan.

Second, we built our team culture.

Turning up to training mattered. Turning up on game day mattered. Playing for the person beside you mattered. We learnt that knowing you have a team behind you changes the way you carry yourself. We pushed each other, backed each other and learnt together. Slowly, we became more than a group of players — we became a team.

And that shows today.

We now head into the semi-finals. For some of us, this will be our first experience of finals rugby. For others, these situations are familiar. But regardless of our experience, we enter this game together — with a focused mindset, a clear game plan and belief in the work we have done.

The road here hasn’t always been easy. Our journey has been filled with resilience, hard knocks, hard truths, sacrifices, lessons, laughter, setbacks and growth. There have been moments that have tested us, but those moments have also shaped us.

We will never be in this exact place, with this exact group of people, again.

So now we make it count.

We believed. We worked. We grew.

Now it’s time to finish what we started.

Southern Lions are charging into the semi finals this weekend with two junior teams and two senior teams ready to take the field.

Our Under 15 Gold and Colts teams finished the season on top of the ladder as minor premiers, a massive achievement built on hard work, discipline, teamwork and belief. We couldn’t be prouder of the players, coaches, managers, families and volunteers who have helped make this season so special.

This Saturday, our teams will be competing at Kalamunda and Cottesloe, and we’re calling on the entire Southern Lions family to get behind them. Bring your voices, wear your colours proudly and create the kind of sideline support that lifts the energy and drives our teams forward.

Our players have put in the work. Now it’s our turn to stand with them.

After a strong weekend of rugby, Southern Lions are preparing for a huge finals weekend with four teams competing in the semifinals, two junior sides and two senior sides.

Felix delivered an outstanding Premier Grade performance, while Shamall and Cormac were recognised for their consistent efforts in Reserve Grade. Terry Moore also produced a strong performance for the women against Cottesloe.

🔥🔥 PREMIER GRADE ADVANCES TO THE SEMI FINALS 🔥🔥

The Southern Lions secured a hard-fought 32-14 victory over West Scarborough in a highly physical encounter, earning their place in the semi-finals for the first time in club history 👊

Both teams came ready to compete, delivering a tough and hard contest from the opening whistle. The Lions showed outstanding grit, strength and commitment throughout the match, working hard in defence and attack to secure an important win.

The physicality of the game unfortunately resulted in three serious West Scarborough injuries. We send our best wishes to the players affected and hope they make speedy recoveries.

Tight-Head Prop Felix Alefaio was outstanding for the Lions, producing a strong Man of the Match performance and completing the full match. Felix's work rate, toughness and commitment were exceptional, reflecting the effort shown by the entire team.

This historic result sees the Southern Lions Premier Grade progress to the
semi-finals for the first time, marking a fantastic achievement for the club.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the teams last weekend. The crowd was loud, passionate and positive, and the players truly felt that support on the field. Seeing so many Southern Lions supporters on the sidelines showed the strength of our club and made a real difference.
