There’s a reason we keep banging on about cardio.

VO₂ max is essentially a measure of how well your body can take in and use oxygen when you’re working hard, and it’s one of the most powerful indicators we have of cardiorespiratory fitness and long-term health.

The good news? It’s trainable.

Every time you push your heart rate up during HIIT, recover, and go again, you’re giving your cardiovascular system a reason to adapt and improve.

So the bike, rower and cross trainer aren’t just there to burn calories or make you sweat.

You’re training your heart, lungs and cardiovascular system for the life you want to keep living.

We’ve seen it hundreds of times over the past 16 years.

Women walk through our doors feeling tired, less confident and unsure whether they even belong in a gym.

Then something starts to change.

They get stronger. They have more energy. Their confidence comes back. And exercise becomes something they actually look forward to.

You don’t need to be fit to start.

You just need to start somewhere that understands where you’re starting from. 🖤💕

We opened a gym to help people get fitter and stronger.

Somewhere along the way, it became something much bigger than that.

A place where different ages, different lives and completely different personalities somehow end up sitting around the same table, drinking coffee and knowing far too much about each other.

The training might be what brings people through the door.

But after 16 years, we know it’s often the people who make them stay.

You guys built the community. We just provided the building.

And apparently, the gossip is complimentary. 😂

We know cardiovascular fitness is linked with a lower risk of dementia.

But how?

Your heart, your blood vessels and your brain are far more connected than you might think.

And it’s another very good reason to get your heart rate up.

Australia’s #1 killer probably isn’t what you think.

And what cardiovascular fitness has to do with it might surprise you.

We’ve gone from women being told not to lift weights… to acting like cardio is the enemy.

And honestly, neither extreme makes much sense.

Strength training is important.
Cardiovascular fitness is important.
Bone health is important.
Mobility is important.

You don’t have to pick a side.

You can lift heavy AND get your heart rate up.

Because being fit and healthy isn’t about becoming really good at one form of exercise.

It’s about building a body that can do more, for longer.

So yes, keep the barbell.

But it’s important to keep your heart healthy too…

You only have one!

You’re not 25 anymore.

And your fitness routine probably shouldn’t be either.

What worked when you had fewer responsibilities, more time, better recovery and a body that bounced back a little easier might not be the best approach for the life you’re living now.

Because fitness isn’t about proving how hard you can train.

It’s about finding something you can do consistently, recover from, enjoy and realistically fit into your life.

The goal isn’t to train like your 25 year old self.

It’s to build a body that keeps you strong, capable and independent for decades to come.

Train for the life you have now, and the life you want to keep living.
