Sanctioned comps are fantastic, but they come with a steep learning curve: federation memberships, strict weight class rules, equipment standards, and weigh-ins. If you’ve never hit the platform before, that’s a lot to navigate all at once.
Unsanctioned events remove every bit of that noise. You just show up and lift.
Just look at Jas! ( Jas )
Back in 2023, she was training in a gym with no competition experience. But after watching an unsanctioned event, a switch flipped. 🤯 She entered her first comp later that year, hit 2 PBs, and got hooked on the energy of a room full of people backing her.
Fast forward a short 3 years, Jas is now gearing up to represent SG & Perth at the Australian National Powerlifting stage in Melbourne this September! 💪
Every athlete’s journey starts with a single step. Unsanctioned comps let you figure out how you respond under pressure and build confidence before stepping up to sanctioned ones.
Regardless of wether you hope to step on the world stage, or just want something to shoot for in your training, SG4 has been providing this exact stepping stone for three years:
✅ No federation fees
✅ No weigh-ins
✅ No complicated rules to follow
Your next chapter starts at SG4 on August 16th, 2026.

Three years of SG Throwdowns. 💪 Three years of everyday lifters showing up and surprising themselves.
Here’s what we’ve learned.
Year one: Remove the barriers and people will come.
Year two: The community creates the energy, we just provide the platform.
Year three: The competition environment does things for progress that solo training never can.
Every year we see the same thing.
First-timers walking in nervous and walking out with PBs.
Lifters connecting with people from completely different training backgrounds.
People saying “I’ll definitely be back next year.”
Year four is August 16th 2026.
Same format. Same energy. Better every time.
