Monday Momentum #2
Celebrate the behaviour you want to see.
It’s easy to notice when our dogs jump, bark, pull, or ignore us.
But some of the most important moments happen quietly.
That glance back during a walk.
The decision to sit instead of jumping.
Choosing to sniff rather than react.
Taking a deep breath after becoming excited.
Those moments deserve our attention.
This week, try catching your dog doing something right.
You might be surprised how often it happens.
What’s one behaviour you’ll celebrate this week?
We’re celebrating Willow’s big hearted behaviours like checking in with us when we are out together! Such a simple act but also one of the hardest when there’s so much to investigate around us!

Sunday Adventure
Sometimes the best place to train…
is the place where nobody (not even your dog) expects you to.
Happy adventuring, everyone. 🐾❤️🌊

🌿 Friday Dog Thought
One of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs isn’t another command.
It’s another adventure.
Dogs don’t care whether it’s a famous hiking trail or a quiet reserve just around the corner. They simply love exploring the world alongside us, following new scents, climbing over logs, splashing through puddles, and discovering what lies around the next bend.
If you’re looking for somewhere new to explore this weekend, the Trails WA (https://trailswa.com.au) is a fantastic place to start. It has hundreds of walking trails across Western Australia, and you can even filter for dog-friendly adventures.
Who knows… you might just discover your dog’s new favourite place.
Happy exploring this weekend! 🐾🌿 Remember to tell us where you are planning on going or have been! We are down in Margaret River and soaking in Mother Nature!
💚 Friday Dog Thought:
“The best walks aren’t measured in kilometres… they’re measured in moments.”

🎓 Professor Willow’s Wednesday Wisdom
Field Notes from Professor Willow, PhD (Pretty Happy Dogs) 🐾
Observation No. 1
“The dogs who teach me the most are rarely the loudest.
They are the ones who pause… who watch… who quietly tell the truth with their bodies.”
When our humans are able to slow down enough to observe instead of react, we often reveal exactly what we need - space, interaction, guidance or simply quiet company.
This week, before asking, “How do I stop this behaviour?”
Try asking,
“What might my dog be trying to tell me?”
You might be surprised by the answer.

What if your next dog walk wasn't about training at all?
What if, for just 20 minutes, you left the treat pouch at home and simply became curious?
The Pretty Happy Dogs Observation Walk is a simple one-page guide designed to help you notice your dog in a different way. Instead of focusing on what your dog should be doing, it invites you to ask:
"I wonder what my dog is experiencing right now?"
Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs don't come from teaching our dogs something new. They come from seeing them more clearly.
I've created this guide as the first in what I hope will become a growing library of free resources for dog owners. If it helps you enjoy your walks just a little bit more, then it's done exactly what it was designed to do.
🐾 Download it FREE here:

If you take it out on your next walk, I'd genuinely love to hear what you noticed about your dog.
Feel free to leave a comment below or tag in your photos. I'd love to follow along.
Because the goal isn't a perfect dog.
It's a pretty happy one. ❤️

Monday Momentum
One of the biggest mistakes we make in dog training is believing every session has to be long.
I do it sometimes because I forget that it is not rocket science. We are not trying to be perfect. We are not aiming for the Olympics.
We simply need five minutes.
Five minutes of calm practice is enough.
Five minutes of choosing to settle instead of reacting.
Five minutes of rewarding your puppy for checking in with you.
Five minutes of walking together without rushing.
Five minutes of quietly watching the world go by from a park bench.
And we only need to pick one to do.
While these little moments may not feel significant today, dogs don’t learn because we occasionally do something extraordinary.
They learn because we repeatedly do ordinary things, well.
This week, don’t worry about training for perfection.
Simply find five minutes.
Five calm, connected minutes with your dog.
Those moments have a remarkable way of becoming a lifetime of understanding.
Happy Monday Peeps and Pups!!
What’s one small thing you and your dog will practise this week?

🗣️ "My dog doesn't listen to me."
It's one of the most common frustrations I hear from dog owners.
But what if your dog has been listening all along?
Just... not to the words.
Dogs are incredible observers. Long before they understand "sit", "stay" or "come", they're reading our body language, our movement, our breathing, our timing and even our emotional state.
Sometimes what we're saying with our bodies is completely different from what we're saying with our mouths.
Our latest article explores why some of the most important conversations you'll ever have with your dog may not require a single word.
🌿 Stop Talking to Your Dog. They're Listening to More Than Your Words.
I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've read it.

Most people think calm dogs are born calm.
They’re not.
Calmness is not a personality trait.
It’s a skill.
A skill that can be learned, practised, and strengthened over time.
Three weeks ago, a young puppy named Kayda could bark continuously for long periods when she became overwhelmed by the world around her.
Today, she still occasionally barks.
The difference is what happens next.
She pauses.
She sniffs.
She observes.
She recovers.
That’s not luck.
That’s learning.
That’s growth.
And that’s what calmness really looks like.
