Howdee MJWA race fans🏁🏁

As we look towards our next river race we are proud to honour one of our much loved members.

Esther was one of our biggest advocates and along with Alan Bijl provided an amazing race weekend for the members and also looked after the kids and support crews❤️

We honour her with the first name sake race within our club that shall remain in perpetuity.

The 2026 top 3 this year are..

1st Place - 078 Brad Cuss and Andrew Messenger with a 2 day time of 29.34:24

2nd Place - 080 Scott Harris and Markus Christie with a 2 day time of 29.39:03

3rd Place -165 Alan Bijl and Steve Leersen with a 2 day time of 31.09:33

📣📣2026 MJWA AVON DESCENT RACE SCHEDULE 📣📣

Its no secret that the might Avon river is suffering from a lack of rain and subsequently is as low as 10cm making it a difficult year to formulate any sort of decent race.

The MJWA crew and event organisers have been working hard behind the scenes to put together an event that makes the best out of a bad situation.

Below is the MJWA approved plan for the coming weekend, we would love to see you in the Shire of Northam on Saturday morning where you will see us conducting a series of timed races on the start pool, these timed races will count towards our Day 1 time.

Sunday we will be on the river from Baskerville and making our way to the formal Avon Descent finish line and celebrations.

We thank the events team, race organisers and our own MJWA delegates for doing their best in bringing a safe and practical resolution to a tough and dry year.
