You can be functioning well and still be struggling with anxiety.

You might be working, caring for others, getting things done and appearing completely capable to everyone around you.

But underneath, you’re overthinking, feeling on edge, bracing for something to go wrong, struggling to switch off or wondering why the anxiety keeps persisting.

If that sounds familiar, I’ve created something for you.

My 6-Week Small Group Anxiety Program for Women is a live online program designed to help you better understand what may be driving and reinforcing your anxiety, and begin changing how you respond to it.

Over six weeks, I’ll guide you through my 5-Stage Framework:

Understand. Regulate. Interrupt. Uncover. Rebuild.

This is not a self-paced course.

It includes 12 hours of live small-group support, guided workbook exercises, practical strategies, guided practices, discussion, reflection and opportunities to share and ask questions.

And I’m intentionally keeping the group very small.

Maximum 5 women.

šŸ“… 14 October – 18 November 2026
šŸ•” Wednesdays, 6:30pm–8:30pm AWST (Perth, Australia, GMT+8)
šŸ’» Live online via Zoom

Sometimes holding back doesn’t look like fear.

It looks like procrastinating.
Second-guessing yourself.
Waiting until you feel more ready.
Keeping your ideas to yourself.
Posting, then disappearing.
Talking yourself out of opportunities you actually want.

For some people, the problem isn’t a lack of ambition.

It’s that being more visible can trigger fears of judgement, criticism, rejection or getting it wrong.

And if earlier experiences taught you that being noticed, speaking up or making mistakes could lead to embarrassment, disapproval or feeling unsafe, part of you may still be trying to protect you by keeping you small.

That’s the kind of pattern I work on inside my Visibility & Success Intensive.

We identify the experiences, beliefs and conditioned responses underneath the anxiety, then work on changing the response that is still keeping you stuck.

If you know you’re capable but keep holding back from being seen, speaking up or going after what you want, learn more about my 4 Week Visibility & Success Intensive Program:

These patterns are, of course, not specific to eldest daughters and sons.

Any child can develop them from their experiences.

But many eldest children will recognise the pressure to get things right, stay in control and not let people down.

Sometimes what we see as the behaviour is only the surface.

Underneath reassurance-seeking may be a belief that uncertainty is dangerous.

Underneath harsh self-criticism may be a belief that punishing yourself will stop you from making the same mistake again.

And what you actually need is often different from what the anxious pattern keeps pushing you towards.

You may need to build trust in yourself without having all the answers.

You may need to learn that accountability doesn’t require shame.

This is the kind of pattern I help clients identify and change.

If this feels familiar, I’ve created a free guide How to Stop Living with Anxiety.

DM me or comment GUIDE and I’ll send it to you.

I’m thinking of opening a new 6-week live online Anxiety Group for Women.

It would be for high-functioning women who are getting on with life, but internally experience things like overthinking, persistent worry, self-doubt, difficulty switching off, people-pleasing, perfectionism, needing certainty or control, or feeling constantly ā€œonā€.

The group would be intentionally small, with a maximum of 5 women, so there is space for genuine discussion, reflection and personalised support.

14 October – 18 November 2026
Wednesdays, 6–8pm AWST (GMT+8)
Live online via Zoom — open worldwide

Investment: AUD $1,000 paid in full
or 2 x AUD $550, completed by 7 October
Afterpay and Zip available.

At this stage, I’m simply gauging genuine interest before formally opening places.

If you would genuinely consider joining, DM or comment INTERESTED and I’ll reach out to you.

These patterns aren’t specific to eldest daughters and sons, and the examples aren’t meant to suggest that one parent is always responsible.

Similar experiences can come from Mum, Dad, another caregiver, a teacher or someone else important in a child’s life.

But many eldest children will recognise what it was like to be the first child their parents were learning to parent, often with more responsibility, expectation or pressure to get things right.

If you were sent away when a parent was upset, weren’t really listened to when you tried to explain yourself, or had an adult make you doubt your ability, you may have learned things like:

I’m a burden.
There’s no point speaking up.
Maybe I’m not as capable as I thought.

Years later, those beliefs can show up as staying quiet, taking up less space, second-guessing yourself, procrastinating, fearing judgement or struggling to trust your own ability.

And for business owners and professionals, that can affect how confidently you put yourself forward, share your work, take opportunities or pursue greater success.

This is the kind of pattern I work on in my Visibility & Success Intensive.

We identify the experiences and beliefs connected to what is happening now, then work on changing the conditioned response that is still keeping you stuck.

If anxiety, self-doubt or fear of judgement is getting in the way of your visibility or success, DM or Comment VISIBLE and I’ll send you the details.

Or if you prefer, you can find the link in my bio.

For a lot of eldest daughters and sons, being needed became part of how they learned to feel valuable.

Being helpful.
Being responsible.
Being the one people relied on.

So when you start saying no, doing less, asking for help or letting other people handle their own problems, it can feel uncomfortable.

Not because you’re doing something wrong.

Because you may be stepping away from a role that once helped you feel loved, important or safe.

And that can bring up guilt, anxiety and the urge to go straight back to over-functioning.

Maybe part of changing the pattern is learning that you can be loved without always being needed.

If setting boundaries makes you feel guilty, anxious or selfish, I’ve created a free Boundaries Workbook to help you understand why and start changing the pattern.

DM me or comment BOUNDARY and I’ll send it to you.

This can be especially familiar for eldest daughters and sons who have become ambitious professionals or business owners.

You know what you need to do.
Put yourself forward.
Share the idea.
Launch the offer.
Ask for the opportunity.
Become more visible.
But you keep putting it off.

For some eldest children, this makes sense when you look at what they learned earlier in life.

If getting things wrong brought criticism, if being noticed brought judgement, or if you learned to be the responsible one who couldn’t afford to fail, the actions that require you to be seen, take risks or back yourself can still trigger anxiety now.

So procrastination isn’t always about motivation.

Sometimes the action itself feels threatening.

This is where my work comes in.

We identify the experiences and beliefs underneath the anxiety, understand the conditioned response they created, and work on changing it.

These patterns aren’t specific to eldest children, of course.

But I see them often in eldest daughters and sons who have become highly capable adults and still find themselves holding back in ways they don’t fully understand.

If anxiety is getting in the way of your visibility and success, DM or Comment VISIBLE and I’ll send you details about my Visibility & Successprogram.

Or if you prefer, you can find it in the link in my bio.

You know what you need to do.

But you keep procrastinating on the very things that could move you forward.

Sometimes procrastination isn’t a motivation problem.

The action itself is triggering anxiety.

If being wrong once meant criticism, embarrassment or disapproval, putting yourself out there now can still feel threatening.

This is where my work comes in.

We identify the experiences, beliefs and conditioned responses driving the anxiety — and work on changing them.

Because you may not need another strategy.

You may need to change what keeps stopping you from using the strategies you already have.

If anxiety is getting in the way of your visibility and success, DM me VISIBLE and I’ll send you details about working with me.

Being hard to please, breaking your trust and comparing you to other children may look like three completely different childhood experiences.

But each can leave behind a belief that follows you into adulthood.

I have to earn approval.
It isn’t safe to open up.
Who I am isn’t enough.

And years later, you may not consciously think any of those things.

Instead, you experience the pattern.

* You overthink whether you’ve done enough.
* You struggle to trust people with the vulnerable parts of you.
* You compare yourself to others and keep pushing yourself to achieve more.

And often, anxiety is sitting underneath all of it.

These are the kinds of connections I uncover with clients.

We look beyond the anxiety and conditioned behaviours you experience today to understand what shaped them, uncover the beliefs underneath them, and work on changing the responses they still create.

Because you can spend years trying to become good enough, successful enough or approved of enough without realising you’re still trying to resolve something you learned much earlier.

As a therapist, I welcome your tears.

But for some clients, crying can feel deeply uncomfortable — even embarrassing.

ā€œI should be able to hold it together.ā€
ā€œIf I cry, I’m weak.ā€
ā€œI don’t want anyone to see me like this.ā€

And that embarrassment can tell us something important.

Because often, it isn’t just the tears they’ve learned to hold back.

It’s the hurt.
The anger.
The shame.
Their voice.
The things they really want to say.

For some of my clients, this suppression of their emotions and voice is part of what’s driving the persistent anxiety, overthinking and panic attacks they come to see me for.

Suppressing difficult emotions doesn’t make them disappear.

So when a client tells me they’re embarrassed that they cried, I’m interested in what they learned crying meant about them, and what else they’ve learned they shouldn’t feel, express or say.

That’s where our work can go.

We uncover the experiences and beliefs that taught them to suppress themselves, and then work on changing those learned responses.

Because understanding your anxiety is one thing.

Changing what’s driving it is another.
